Is homosexuality limited to humans?
« on: 06/12/2010 17:30:02 »
@budiprasetya asked the Naked Scientists:

Is homosexuality limited to humans? Are there any records in pre-historic humans?

What do you think?

"Is homosexuality limited to humans?"
No, it's fairly common among other animals.

"Are there any records in pre-historic humans?"
I doubt it because it's not the sort of thing that leaves fossils.
You might find some gay porn painted on a stone age wall somewhere.

You must have missed Ricky Gervais's show entitled "Animals"  [:)] ...

(vulgar comedy, not for the easily offended)

    Humans are relatively unique that they have interests in sexual intercourse at times other than ovulation, although I suppose I've seen male dogs get excited at odd moments.  But, in most species, the males can sense when a receptive female is nearby.

    It is possible that monogamous homosexuality is more prevalent in humans than other species.

    However, if you have a herd of cows (all female) you will see them jumping onto each other when one comes into heat.
