I feel I must warn, if the bottle does explode it can be quite dangerous. There is a "Darwin Award" where and individual is now unable to procreate because he made a plastic bottle bomb. Just be sure you have it far away from you. Unfortunately the NaC2H3O2 is NOT the same kind of NaC2H3O2 that can be used in hot ice experiments, but you can turn it into that.

Baking soda and vinegar probably won't eat up your eyes... but it could hurt like heck. An explosion, however, could blast one's face.

Alka Seltzer contains a combination of aspirin, citric acid, and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), which is reasonably stable until mixed with water.

I believe the old water-fire extinguishers generated the spray with a baking soda/acid reaction.
