Algebraic Fraction- latex help
« on: 07/05/2014 05:21:49 »
Hello, how do I write algebraic fractions using symbols?

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO POST A THREAD BUT THERE HAVE BEEN NO BREAK THROUGH:
Simplify
/frac{m+n}{2}-frac{m-n}{3} + 3(m-1)

The expression should read m+n over 2 minus m-n over 3 plus 3(m-1)
I need help please.

Sorry I didn't notice this earlier.  We added a few "shortcuts" to the editor to help you get started with TEX.

It looks like your equation was good, but you needed to change the forward slashes to backslashes (what you would not use to write a fraction).

Forward Slash:   1/2
Backslash: 1\2  (looks strange, right, use this for TEX).

And, of course, bracket it with TEX.

[tex]\frac{m+n}{2}-\frac{m-n}{3} + 3(m-1)[/tex]
