Martin88, how interesting:
.... they are increasingly perceived as merely different versions of the same gland

Holy M-F Jesus! I had no idea I had Skene's glands and was possibly ejaculating!  There's definitely A LOT of information
that went missing in my Catholic sex education classes with Sister Marguerite.  [:o]

Thank you, martin88, for enlightening me about this. Who would have thunk it!

I was symptom free at the beginning of this current episode, but 3-5 days later I have experienced symptoms: mentally wiped, dull pain in lower back, a barely perceivable ache in groin area. My current thoughts: my problem (and possibly ours) is due to chronic prostatis. I have been tested for this years ago when I was relentlessly going to doctors looking for a cure. I had my PSA checked, secretion analyzed, semen ananlyzed, had more than one physical and had a camera jammed up my urethra for a look-see. Everything was "normal". But what I'm feeling now is telling me the tests were imperfect. Perhaps it is easier on a swollen prostate when you eat soluble fiber, less pressure against it. This of course would not explain girlwind's situation, but at the moment I am convinced.

I was just diagnosed with mild prostatitis and I'm on my 3rd round of antibiotics. It seems to come and go when it pleases. POIS is starting to almost get too complicated for my shrinking brain.....

Demografx,
Were you diagnosed by complaining about POIS symptoms? What test determined it to be prostaitis? What type of antibiotics are you taking? Is it possible that the 75% cure is somewhat due to this vs Levitra?

Yes, demografx, I figured you were the geek with books piled in front of you... Please explain WHY you couldn't stand up?

All this POIS info has become more complex than I could have ever imagined. I've been having a thought... that maybe I
could make a little film about it to post on YouTube. It could be predominantly a written description of the many symptoms
associated with POIS, and could include some of more notable ideas, theories, and questions we've come up with on this
forum. (Oddly enough I'm hearing it set to the music from an old western...)  The clip could finish with a WANTED poster
reading: If you know the whereabouts of the answer to the riddle of this condition known as POIS, please let us have it.
I see some dramatic piece of old western footage to finish it off with.

What do you think? If we appeal to the mainstream, we might get more attention about POIS, more people who have it could
come forward, and maybe some health professionals who have a clue about how to diagnose it would get involved....   [?]

It's a thought.

Physical exam. Antibiotics are irrelevant, they're not working.

POIS related? No, John, absolutely not, the 75% cure is totally credited to Levitra. I have no doubt about that.

The prostatitis is a very recent development and I think is caused by my irritable bowel syndrome acting up heavily these last few months. I know this is TMI, but false-alarm bowel movements are putting pressure on the prostate.

I may have confused things by bringing up the prostatitis. I simply reacted when I saw it was mentioned, and that I recently was diagnosed with it.

I think youtube might be dangerous.  The community is generally very immature; you're more likely to get ridicule than help.   It could also be a big turn off to many stuffed-shirt physicians who could help.  I like the spirit of your idea, but I think it would do more harm than good.

Edit: To elaborate, I think it might work on some levels, but it would need to be extremely carefully put together.  Many would laugh or think it was a joke if there were a youtube video connecting orgasm to these symptoms (with western music) and then asking for feedback.  Others would be even less kind.

Demografx: not TMI at all, thanks for sharing.

Theory: POIS is caused by lower pelvic inflammation.

I expected that too, but I posted 4 YouTubes of my pianoplaying and, out of dozens and dozens of comments, got only one immature post, and that was from someone who followed me from a Forum and didn't like what I, along with the majority of the listmembers,  had to say about him there.

The tags also need to be carefully thought out to attract the kind of people girlwind wants to attract. I think "post orgasmic illness syndrome" for example will not attract the immature; "masturbating" might.

Thanks, John.

And very interesting theory. It took multiple visits, with multiple exams (at my insistence) to find that my current problems are associated with prostate inflammation. So not easily identified.

Okay--So I have one enthusiastic yes and one semi-enthusiastic no. Does anyone else have any feedback about my idea to
do a short youtube movie about POIS? And I do mean short--hopefully not longer than 5-7 minutes. Which, at my rate of
editing plus obsessive perfectionism equals about 10-15 hours per minute of finished product to complete. (That doesn't
include getting the facts lined up in a cohesive flowing way and finding some music to go with it all.)

And, Counterpoints, I'm not attached to using western music, if that's a problem. I'm just trying to figure out an interesting and
artistic way to make a point about this debilitating condition. My intention is to attract the people who have POIS and are looking
for a forum like ours to be included in, and hopefully, to join with us in researching this and finding answers. And of course to
reel in some health prof's who can help us.

Also, demografx, I agree that we would need to title the posting in a way that attracts people with health issues, and not just the
bored and boring, looking for someone to ridicule. But I'm not sure if POIS is the right title. How many of US even knew what this
was called before we found this forum--I didn't.  So that's something to think about.

Girlwind, I think that just a straightforward talk about it might spread the word a little. For me public speaking is nerveracking enough, I can't imagine broadcasting such a personal story, heck even my name here is a pseudonym. But if you are up to it, it would be a wonderful caring thing to do. I think that anyone with the condition is already using a search engine, and such a video could only increase their chances of finding us. Thats better for us as we have more brainpower working, and better for those out there who are searching and finding nothing as we all probably did for years and years. I say go for it!

John, i agree that showing your face in a movie is not the best thing to stay anonymous. We have nothing to lose with a film, if it reflect the serious of the condition i'm for it. Again thanks to Girlwind who's our voice. I'm not sure if a lot of people here would be able to do this.

Ok girlwind, I am just trying to be cautious.  There seems to be an endless jerk supply on the internet ;). I definitely appreciate your ideas and effort.  My main concern is that people just wouldn't understand that this is serious.  Orgasm is pretty much unknown to cause problems anything like this.  It's something worth keeping in mind when/if putting it together.

I understand Counterpoint's concerns, it would have to be done well. The main objective is that people searching for answers are able to find this site quickly. I'm not educated in how search engines work, but I presume it is mainly a matter of tag words. So perhaps even a website with information and links to this site would work.

hi girlwind, good idea in principle I think ... a youtube video would probably reach quite a few. Perhaps someone out there might have been successfully treated for POIS (by another name) and they would never bother googling for symptoms (thinking they were alone with this strange condition).

I imagine footage of a person would add impact, but it might not be beneficial or necessary for you to appear and identify yourself as someone suffering from POIS. Depending on how you want to pitch the message, some kind of stock video with voice-over might be just as effective.

An aside; just searched for 'orgasm' on youtube and (no surprises) plenty of results. It might be necessary to come up with something clever to avoid both an 'R' rating and getting lost in the cloud of amateur porn.

Not sure why, but the 'woman in red' scene from 'The Matrix' (
keeps coming to mind ... something to do with a theme of being 'alone in a crowd' ... but the metaphor is inaccurate for a few reasons (one being we are now something of a crowd here now, thankfully; it was much less fun being alone).
