in the conclusion to this article, the author hypothesizes that the there is an accelerated spermatogenesis  from days 1 to 5, on the 7th day there is a huge spike in testosterone, 150% above normal. he sugests this is the shut off switch for the hypothalamic pituitary axis. so on the 7th day the testes release a large amount of testosterone to stop the release of GnRH from the hypothalamus, this stops the release of LH and FSH from the pituitary gland which in turn shuts off spermagenesis, and production of testosterone it self.
the authors conclusion leads me further to believe that hypothalamic pituitary axis which is regulated by GnRH(agonist) and testosterone(antagonist) needs to be tested.  so if you dont give yourself 8 days between O's your body will be in constant sperm production, with days 1-4/5 being the heaviest in sperm production. days 5-7 sperm production starts to taper down because of higher levels of testosterone, day 7 releases a massive amount turning off production, day 8 new sperm production has been shut down and Testosterone levels return to normal base levels.  B-jim if you paid for that it was worth every penny.

good stuff re the T graphs.

this article
http://www.impactlab.com/2006/09/25/why-do-men-fall-asleep-after-sex/
says these chemicals are release with orgasms:
Norepinephrine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, Vasopressin, Nitric Oxide (NO), Prolactin and Melatonin (body clock).
oxytocin, vasopressin, prolactin are associated with sleep.

My SHBG levels are high,
this could be a possible liver problem (doc appontment next week)
liver deals with Glycogen stored in muscles,
Goldberg states Glycogen loss causes loss of energy after an orgasm.

transport proteins are high in people with liver damage because the active site of molecules binds to the carrier proteins. this eliminates them from being active in your blood stream, the more albumin/shbg you have the less affect a drug or endogenous hormone/compound will have on your system. this is a safe guard for your system so you are not overwhelmed by a drug or toxin when your liver cannot due its job in a timely manner.  higher transport proteins are also seen in drug addicts and alcoholics because the liver is working full time to detoxify alcohol so the body needs to bind the other active compounds that it cannot take care of in the blood to transport proteins.

Dear All,

We would like to continue improving our POIS website and the information we have for future research.

What we would like to implement now, with your help, is the POIS Map (using the technology provided by Google maps).
This, not only will let us have an approximation of the World distribution of people with POIS symptoms, but also will show you
if you have a neighbor with whom you could possibly start visiting the same physician, etc.

Take a look at our beta version of the POIS map in our website:
http://sites.google.com/site/poiswebsite/pois-map [nofollow]

The only information we ask for is your approximate location, so your privacy won’t be compromised in any way.

We just ask for the Country you live in, but if you want to give us your state, province, or city, it would be much better to have a better map.

There are already some Forum members there.

How can you join?  Just send me (mat780) a Private Message and I’ll be glad to include you.

Regards,
Mat

Dear All,

I would like to make a few clarifications about the POIS Map, so you know your privacy is fully respected.

On the Map, no “usernames” or “nicknames” will be used; so there is no way you can be located through it.

Also, the POIS Map is private. Only people that visit our website, or that has the link to the POIS Map webpage,
can look at it. If you search through Google Maps you’ll find no results for our POIS Map.

If you have any doubt, I’ll be glad to clarify it.

Regards,
Mat

You can visit our POIS Map at:

The liver stores most fat soluble vitamins A,D and E.
Liver also deals with Glycogen.

Im wondering about the fact evr since I was a kid I poured loads of Glucose over my cereals like there was no tomorrow.
I loved the stuff.
Maybe theres a link there, with over-eating glucose and glycogen storage?

Im surprised about that Testosterone graph/study.
Im surprised how it only peaks 7 days after.
How does everyone else feel about it?

Here is another study,

I have been doing testosterone injections 2x a week for 1 year and sorry to say it does not make any difference in my POIS.
My T level is 800+ now.The symptoms are the same as when my T level was 150.Only difference is my mood is better and i have bulked up. Wear the same clothes but my weight went up 20 lbs.

Many who suffer from POIS do not have low levels of testosterone.  Discussions in this forum over the past few years suggest that while POIS in some is alleviated greatly by TRT, the problem for most sufferers seems to be more complex than just adjusting ones testosterone levels.

While I dont think testosterone is a universal panacea, we need more research to see the impact on POIS if we augment testosterone regardless of current T-levels.

My endo believes injections (which I started with sketchy results) are less effective than patches or gel. The former "spikes" in and out of the system, while the latter delivers more uniformly and evenly throughout the body, mimicking the way natural testosterone delivers.

In defense of injections, which I'm doing now for a few years, the dosage is easier to manipulate precisely, and it can be done once a week. (I personally don't experience significant spikes). Also patches can irritate the skin and fall off easily! At least that's what I experienced. Good to have options- to find the one that works for you...

Thanks mat. This is terrific. I don't know how the others feel, but I wouldn't mind seeing the usernames associated with the map. That way we could contact one another with info... regarding our locations and resources...
Look forward to seeing it!

I'm actually more concerned that my private email is visible on my profile page- accessible by all, so I tried to hide it, but couldn't find a way. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks everybody for joining so quick to our POIS Map!

Regarding the idea of using the “usernames” on the POIS Map, that was our first idea; but privacy
is something very important for all of us, so we finally decided to keep it anonymous.

In case “POIS Forum Member X” wants to get in touch with “POIS Forum Member Y”, he can post on
the Forum something like… “I would like to get in touch with the POIS Forum Members that live near…,
please send me a Private Message”.

Anyway, if anyone prefers to be identified by its username on our POIS Map, I’ll have no problem to
do it that way; but, by default, I’ll just put “POIS Forum Member” unless otherwise stated by the
corresponding Forum Member.

Regards,
Mat

demo if you give your self enough exogenous Testosterone you can shut down spermatogenesis manually. but your right if you have hypogonadism the process probably is not working exactly the same for you. i also found that the main symptom from having GnRH antibodies is that it causes hypogonadism. i have seen a few articles on it now. it seems that they are developing a GnRH vaccine to give to horses.  the vaccine gives the horses GnRH antibodies, the antibodies bind to GnRH inactivating it, and the horses cannot produce androgens. in stallions it stops them from producing sufficient amount of testosterone causing chemical castration. in mares it stops them from being able to get pregnant. they are also considering giving it to prostate cancer patients and a few other type of diseases as an alternative to GnRH antagonists. it would be a shame if they ended up giving theses people POIS.

******************************************************************************

IMPORTANT: FROM DR. MARCEL D. WALDINGER - THE VERY FIRST RESEARCHER-PHYSICIAN TO DISCOVER POIS AND FORMALLY STUDY AND REPORT ON IT PROFESSIONALLY IN A PUBLISHED MEDICAL PAPER.

On Jul 17, 2010, at 5:01 PM, Marcel Waldinger  wrote:

Dear Mr  [demografx],

With interest I have read parts of the website “the naked scientists”. And I have seen the information of POIS on YouTube. I would like to congratulate you for bringing POIS under the attention of so many people.

I do have to apologize for not having answered your e-mails. The reason for it is that I didn’t want to confuse patients as my knowledge on POIS was too inadequate for quite a long time. Hopefully you will understand that it remains difficult to communicate about these serious matters on the Internet.

The reason of  this e-mail is that I would like to inform you about the following:

Since our first publication on POIS in 2002, we have continuously been involved in its research. The research was difficult and took a long time but recently, we found strong indications not only of its cause but also for its effective treatment. For the  attention on POIS you have given to other patients with POIS, I would like you to be one of the first POIS patients to know this news.

With some other colleagues, I have written two articles which are currently reviewed by a scientific journal. Obviously, I do hope but also expect that both articles will be accepted and will be published within this year 2010. Both articles are important as they contain  breakthrough information on POIS research.

However, until publication I can't tell anyone of our findings and I am unable to give advises about treatment as this is custom with papers under review. Actually, until publication I am bound to an official confidentialiy agreement with the publisher.

However, to speed up our important work on POIS I would like to perform a questionnaire study worldwide.

Would you be so kind to inform me about existing and reliable websites dealing with POIS?

I am not aware about your own incentives on the Internet, for example whether you have an own website, but I appreciate your help and cooperation very much.

Looking forward to your reply,

With best regards,

Prof. dr. Marcel D. Waldinger
