Experts point out that previous technological advances have led to new employment possibilities and even whole new industries. New technologies spur demand for related roles that didn't previously exist. The key factors are whether employment gains in new areas can offset losses, and if displaced workers can transition to emerging opportunities. Too rapid of advances without sufficient buffers can result in high structural unemployment. We need to realize that having jobs are instrumental goals to earn money, which are themselves instrumental goals to buy things/pay for services, which are themselves instrumental goals to survive sustainably.
