Wow Neil, I can see why you're famous for starting threads []I thought that this "Pendulum" movement was quite obvious. Obviously, like the fact, what goes up, must come down.. What goes to the right, must go back left? The winds are applying forces on the leaves, stems etc. Then the winds temporarily stop, as the wind doesn't always blow at the same speed, constantly. At this time, the stems/leaves reuse the energy which the wind gave to go back upright, and not at an angle, or sometimes more than upright, and like a pendulum, to the other side again. Then the wind strikes again, and the stem moves due to the wind. I think this process carries on repeating again, and again, and again.I hope that helps, although I'm not sure if the explanation is correct. Anyone feel free to help meh out, like George, who is an expert at this []
Wow You may be right because that sort of makes sense! LOL
hmmmmmmm.....I am beginning to wonder if it's due to inconsistencies in the plants themselves in conjunction with what you have said !!..ie: they are not uniform in shape and size...
HUmmm that is interesting, I know what you mean i have seen that when the wind was blowing to, but I never thought about why it was blowing mor then one direction!..good question.. I need to pay more attention to what it feels like when I notice that. I have also seen the same thhings happen to the clothes and sheets on my clothesline also as the y hung in the wwind. usually the wind was slightl more then just a slight breeze on those days with the laundry! It was prety windy!
