Is inability to speak faster a sign that we lack free will?
« on: 13/08/2018 00:25:44 »
If someone claims to have free will then ask them to talk faster. They can't, because the speed at which we speak is dictated by the speed at which thoughts enter our head.  And no amount of willing can change that.

You don't understand what "will" means in this context.
I can have the freedom to wish to speak faster ( or run faster or win the lottery) whether or not I have the ability to do it.

Yes, some people do seem to have the ability to speak fast, such as the man in your video and rappers, but I think this comes from practise and memorizing a sequence of words, like a script.  I can say my name and address veyr fast because I have memorized them, but I can not relay the thoughts that come into my head any faster.

'I can have the freedom to wish to speak faster'

Well you can believe that you do.

The ability to make a choice is not the same as the ability to carry out the choice.

Others have already pointed out that you do not understand correctly what is meant by free will. I want to address a further point. Your second sentence is wrong. I can think considerably faster than I can speak. (And a lot faster than I can type.) Unless you have some limiting condition, I am sure you can to. Every normal person can.
