I used to debate on this with Bill_S...

I would always go all alice in wonderlanding upon him.

He would try so hard to teach me it is not so...
Prapz it's futile debating with a Fool.
(Mee)

But now i agree, Time Dilation & Cryogenics/Hibernation/DeepSleep is Definitely Not Time Travel.

Irrespective of my Personal Mass or Personal Momentum, my own Personal Time Never ticks faster or slower.
My Clock's pace remains Constant.
👍

Ps - Thanks Bill!!!

Sorry to be my contrary today, but I gotta be me.

Quote from: Furious Cat on 01/10/2021 16:08:08
There is only one Universe
and it can be in only one state at a time
previous state of the Universe because it no longer exists.
Do you have any evidence supporting these three assertions? More in particular, do you have evidence that falsifies any model where any of these is not true? If not, then you're not doing science, you're just chatting.

Most if not all are very likely false. If the second one is true, then effect can precede cause, and that is time travel by at least some definitions.

Concerning the 3rd: I look in a mirror and see a prior version of me, which is a measurement showing that I exist at some time in the past. That's empirical evidence contradicting the 3rd assertion, no?

Quote
U cannot go forwards to a future state of the Universe because it does not yet exist.
You can measure me there tomorrow, so how is that possible if I do not 'go forward' to it? In other words, how can you assert that it doesn't exist if you have never measured its absence?

Quote
So time travel is impossible.
Agree, but not for those reasons.

Quote
And time dilation and cryogenics is not time travel.
No more than just normal activity, agree. Others on this forum might disagree, but I don't agree with them then.

Quote
Moderators, Please don't re/move this into the NTs section.
I'm not proposing anything new, here. It's just common sense.
It's not science. Why does this belong in the main section when you making assertions for which you've presented zero evidence. Common sense utilizes the argument from incredulity fallacy. Common sense is frequently wrong when it comes to how things actually work. None of the stuff being discovered over a century ago complied with common sense or was intuitive.

So what evidence have you for the above assertions? If none, it probably goes in just-chat, because it isn't even a theory, new or otherwise. You can ask if time travel is possible in the physics section, but your assertions make it something else.

What evidence do I have? What evidence do I need. It's just CS.

Common sense can be wrong.

to go back in time would mean the future has already happened to go forward in time would mean the same as we could return to the present. If any of this is achieved we would have had contact with the ones that can.

Oh, I can't fool U, Halc. I was talking about just our Universe, of course, and all I'm saying is
there is only one copy/instance of it, at a time, and it can be in only one state, at a time.

Relativity suggests otherwise. Check out relativity of simultaneity and the Andromeda paradox for details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativity_of_simultaneity and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rietdijk%E2%80%93Putnam_argument#Andromeda_paradox

To sum it up, relativity says that what is happening for me right now hasn't necessarily happened for you yet (and vice-versa).

Oh I get it, now. It's the A word: A'theist/AT!
I forget it's a dirty word in the US, and that
"An AT couldn't be erected a dog catcher in the US".
And now that disease is spreading DU.
We had PMs/Prickus Maximus who were proud ATs.
Now they all pretend to be good little Christians,
who go to church, with their wife/ies, on Sunday,
and yet they are bigger back/side stabbers than ever,
before, and I think , to myself
"Mite, I know what Ur religion is: Machiavelli/anism".
I'm sure U/ve heard that our leaders are just playing
musical chairs, in there. Their ruthless, self-serving,
naked ambition, lack of loyalty and impatience is
astounding. Actually, What's even worse than a TH/theist?
An AT who's pretending, to be one! Boom-boom. Kaboom!
He's got no moral principles/scruples, at all.
As U guys well know. It's our own fault, for being so
disunited/organized, meek and mild/subservient, to these
AHs, and not standing up, for ourselves/principles.
"Come the Revolution". No, nothing can save the West, now.
It's too late, in the day, for that.
It's going down the drain/gurgler.
Not that I give a 4X, mite. It's not my problem.
I belong to the world, now, und it belongs to me/us.
So, take it, boys. Take it.
.A We will, mite. We will. Don't U worry, about that.
.B That's a ma boys. Ha ha ha.

Mite, Us cats are clean, animals.
We like to clean up after ourselves, and bury our litter.
I'm just removing all my litter.

Um... what does that have to do with this thread?

And I'm just replying to Z0.

What does atheism or religion have to do with anything Zer0 said?

There are atheists here, so I don't think that's the problem.

I was just being a wag/SA/S/WG, as we say down here.
If it was indeed the auto/filter/woof-woof/watchdog, as it probably was, then something was setting it off.
I have removed it. U happy? Sorry. Where exactly are U?

I don't think there's a filter. I'm pretty sure one of the moderators was deleting your messages (wasn't me, though). From what I can tell, it was related to that PM that was sent to you about keeping personal theories in the New Theories section.

I'm in the United States.

Which coast? What are doing up so early?

East coast. It's after midnight here, but nowhere near morning. I'm a night owl.

However, this thread seems to have diverged from its original topic. Do you plan on continuing to discuss your ideas about time travel, or is it about wrapped up at this point?

Not conventionally like a H.G Wells time machine but in practicality we could travel to another planet in the future that was more advanced or less advanced than our own planet . Effectively travelling back to a relative past or relative  future .

You do travel in time, but it's only one way. Introducing frames of reference you can call something in the vicinity of a black hole as being 'slowed down' by your perspective and clock, but you won't pass that into something getting into 'negative time', aka going backwards. The best you can do is to define it as having no time existing for its process, as defined by you.
