Yep...we definitely have rapeseed oil Justy....as far as I know it's just not branded 'Canola'....well...I didn't recignise it anyway....yum yum !!

Good luck finding canola that's not GM.  Lots of bright yellow fields of canola up here.

Butter and olive oil taste good when blended.  Great on popcorn.

And I think what causes cancer is worrying about what causes cancer.[]

Butter and olive oil go great together.  I cook with those a lot, especially making risotto.

I always thought canola oil was made from corn...shows what I know.  They don't cite a single study of its toxicity so I wouldn't worry too much.  If an Ames test turned up positive, I still wouldn't worry.  There are hundreds of carcinogenic compounds in your morning coffee according to the Ames test, but that doesn't mean you're going to get cancer from it.

Jay...thanks for that.......what about burned food ?..I've heard that that is tres carcinogenic too....and talking of coffee...I remember one of the thousands of food scares was perulated coffee that had been left brewing for ages and ages...especially in reastuarants eh ?

Get a tin of Tuna (dolphin friendly of course and in brine rather than oil).. drain it,whack it in the pan/pot/cooking utensil....stick a nice amount of Olive oil and butter in it, add  a few shakes of some soy sauce too, and worcestishire...a little black pepper....and perhaps a little crushed garlic clove too....(try without the garlic first)...heat gently, stir.....Oh My...tres delish with pasta, espesh if you grate some strong cheddar cheese on it too !!!!

Try it Justy !!..I'm primarily a meat eater.....but this is quite a delish recipe...all my own !!..well...of course whether you like it or not is purely a matter of subjectivity but believe me, it don't taste like tuna !!..(well...a little...) but the combo with the soy and worcesteshire sauce is an explosion of taste bud mania !!!

John...try it !!..hope you like it....remeber to drizzle that olive oil into the pasta too !!...I'm sure you're cat will like it !!..what is your cats name ?

I will try it sometime.  I doubt my cats would like it - they try to bury everything that is not cat food from a bag.  The cat in the picture is Goldie and we also have Kiddo, who looks a lot like his brother but with black striped fur instead of yellow.  We also have Misty who is a smoky grey tapering to white (outside cat in Arkansas).  And then we have Reggie, the ball python and Jake the black rat snake, and Spring the not-so-black rat snake (who is about to get paroled because I'm tired of buying mice for him).  And Anna the tan gerbil and Joe the black and white gerbil.  And a host of rotating temporary inhabitants of various jars and cages.

Can't be true, or I'd be covered in tumors, with my culinary skills.  I just turn everything on hi and walk out of the kitchen.  When it's done the smoke alarm lets me know.

LOL Donnah !!.....I definitely heard it somewhere and ever since then have stopped eating burnt toast !!..cos I love it !!..but, if it's a myth that no one has heard about then I'm definitely gonna be turning my toaster up high from now on !!....I'd love to come round to you for din dins *smile*

sorry neil, but I still think I'm gonna stay away from your dish.... maybe with canned chicken instead of tuna?  
I'm just the opposite of donnah.  I put turn the stove on high and walk away.  My hunger pains tell me when its done (hopefully by thise point its at least not still frozen)
and burnt food does cause stomach cancer.  I can't remember exactly how, someting about the carbon in the black part... yeah thats scientific sounding!
