How do you react if a computer bot harasses you online?
« on: 03/10/2017 10:26:05 »
How do you react to cyberattacks and harassment of online forums by a computer-like entity? Would you respond to the bot or ignore its personal attacks?

How do you know it's a bot that is after you?

I presume the neuro-narratives of the original post is pretty good evidence of computer-like entity employing a
specifically forged dictionary to target someone with insults and personal attacks. In contrast, a human text is generally not structured this way.

If in doubt, switch off. Works for any computer problem.

the neuro-narratives of the original post ... employing a specifically forged dictionary
Please show us the original post, including its forged dictionary, so we can understand your concerns.

We won't be insulted by it (unless it contains obscenity, in which case the NS web filter will block it).

Bots are not permitted on the NS forum - in fact we test them before we let them sign up. So if it was a post on the NS forum, we will let this alleged bot protest its humanity, and see if we can identify it by its forged dictionary (a modern-day Turing Test).

Or does it relate to this other thread?

What is a neuro-narrative?

Here's the best definition I found of neuro-narratives:

Quote

The neural self is expressed through what I have called neuro-narratives (Martínez-
Hernáez, 2014). Neuro-narratives may be defined as stories of the neural self; stories that
privilege explanations of distress in terms of neurochemical dysfunction, short-circuiting an
awareness of the social sources of suffering while at the same time obscuring the fact of this
concealment. Whereas the afflicted self is grounded in social life, the narratives derived from
it are more engaged with the idea of an individually and cerebrally structured distress.

Please take a look at the OP. It looks like the poster inserted specially crafted words like "dumb", "iq", "emf", "strange things" to generate a negative cognitive effect (structured distress?) on the reader.

To me it looks like a straightforward appeal for help.

3 posts on an open forum in the poster's own thread isn't harassment.
If you don't like it, look away.

Why on Earth would you call yourself "dumb" or "low iq" to appeal for help? Why is the question asked make no sense
anyway? I think the aim of poster was to insult or harass people being on antipsychotic medications who might hear auditory hallucinations.

I quite often ask colleagues for help starting with "I must be being dumb here but I can't find...".
And of course, it's possible that he's just providing background information.

There is nothing in the post which suggests that.

The vocabulary used to describe the "question" was forged to induce emotional distress on the recipient.
