I was fortunate to have my mother who knows a World renown Dernatologist from Essex England.

Here is what you do:-

Squeeze out the white spots. Make sure you clean them out one by one and DO NOT spread them around the area.

Apply Betandine or and iodine solution with 10%povidone-iodine

it is a good idea to take a plaster and cover every spot.

This does two things, viz:-

Helps heal the area and
More importantly stops your child spreading the virus by itching.

Once the spot is removed and you have been applying the iodine use some Neosporin to help heal the area.

Molluscum is contageous.
Molluscum will go away in 6 months on average.

Some doctors prescribe Aldara cream. This is effective and will create a redness and the spots will scab over. Perservere with the treatment and combine all of the above to reduce the time this virus goes away.

I have spent days researching this and I hope that it helps anyome out there who is experiencing this trauma.

I have found a great natural product that really works There is no scraping burning or blistering  twice a day  and the lesions start to dry up and it started to be gone in about 3 weeks and fully gone in 7 weeks. simple to use rub on at home twice a day and it was so easy for my son who is 9 it is called "OOPS, NO CRAPPY SPAM, THANKS!" seen other people who say that product does not work so well. I found a 100% natural product that works. it took about 2 plus weeks to start drying them out and about 4plus more weeks to see them fully gone. It is called CRAPPY SPAM and I found it through a friend who found it through their dermatologist. it is @ OOPS, NO CRAPPY SPAM, THANKS!.

My son also had Molluscum contagiosum and after patiently waiting for it to disappear (which it hadn't after 8 months, and was beginning to spread further) we took him to see a specialist. He recommended "Tannolact Lotio". As I live in Germany, it is probably a different product to that seen in the UK, but here is a link to a site that details its compnents.

Look for "Tannolact® Lotio Schüttelmixtur" about halfway down the page. This lotion was dabbed onto the spots each night, and there was a visible reduction in the redness and size within 3 days. After 7 days, the spots were all but gone. We did not have to do any spot stabbing, just simple application. Those of you who know me will recognise that I'm not marketing a product. I also realise that this is a non-blinded scientific experiment with an n of 1, BUT, this product appeared to work very quickly with excellent results. We are now 1 month after the application of the lotion, and there has not been any further incidence of spots. If you are in a frustrating place with MC, then please at least look into this.

(Also - I have placed this into this thread, since it is not any sort of complementary homeopathic placebo based "medicine", but a pharmaceutical product that is extensively trialed and tested.)

So it's a little late to respond to this but I've been looking for a forum to put out there that I've found the best cure for this. I am not a doctor, just someone who got them by renting yoga mats at my yoga center instead of just bringing my own.. It was a dark time in my life. Anyways, the first one was on the top of my chest. I do adult modeling and dancing, so needless to say, I needed the stuff off my body asap without any scarring. I went to the doctor's where they burned them off with nitrogen. It didn't hurt that badly but it left huge painful blisters that took about 2 weeks to heal. I found more and went back to the doctor's thinking that the only option was to have them burnt off and the doctor (this time a different one) told me to just leave them be. She gave me Duofilm which is a mild acid which dries them up while covering them with a film so they don't spread. The Duofilm has worked decently, but it wasn't working fast enough for me. I got online and found a posting from a mother whose little daughter cured her's by going to the ocean regularly. I immediately took that approach.
So in conclusion, this is what I recommend:
1.) Take a daily 20 minute bath in hot salty water. I bought a lot of salt and after soaking in the salt water for about 10 minutes, would take the salt in my hand and used it as an ALL OVER body scrub. Scrub everything, especially your armpits, the inside of your thighs, behind your knees, your ankles - everywhere!! Then soak for an additional 5 or 10 minutes.
2.) After you get out of the tub, pat your skin dry, do NOT rub it. Be very gentle.
3.) DO NOT MOISTURIZE!! I know it sucks but the whole point is to dry these things out. Moisturizing could also spread them because you're rubbing your skin.
4.) DO NOT SHAVE! Think about it - your hair protects your skin. Shaving your skin is just making it more vulnerable and you could spread it.
5.) After drying, apply the Duofilm. Reapply it to areas where you can still see it. Put it on red bumps that could be an incoming.. Let it dry.
6.) Also, I drank Kombucha during this.. It's just generally a tonic that promotes good health but it's specifically good for your skin and hair.. This last step may or may not be helpful but it's the above I really recommend. The saltwater works very well, within one day of doing this process my skin looked so much better and now with the third day, it's almost healed up. Ironically, the spots that were burned are still healing and will probably be there past the other spots I treated with saltwater. The spots I treated with just duofilm (before I discovered the saltwater) are scabbed. In conclusion, the saltwater is the only way to prevent it from spreading, and it majorly expedites this entire process!

Please note that your submission that Aldara cream works is completely opposite of what the FDA says.  The FDA reports:

"No safety concern with respect to systemic exposure of imiquimod and/or its metabolites was noted. However, the sponsor failed to demonstrate efficacy of the AldaraTM Cream, 5% in pediatric patients with MC.  "

My belief, I do not think your experience with Aldara cream is fabricated nor do I think people who use Zymaderm or Silvercure fabricate their experiences.

I believe that if you use a treatment and it worked, most likely it worked.  It does not matter what the FDA said.  As with anything like over the counter headache medicines, everyone has their favorite and has medicines that work and others that do not.  For example: Tylenol works for me and Advil stinks.

Our three year old greatly improved only after using Silvercure.  We suffered with having molluscum for over 8 months and being treated with cryotherapy and Zymaderm.  Silvercure is what worked, and the healing pen was the key.  Silvercure has kept his eczema under control.  Since his MC is gone, we no longer use the ointment but just the Silvercure bodycream and bodywash for controlling eczema.

One more example of why you can not discount different treatments.  My wife has eczema and Silvercure has NO affect for her.  I repeat, Silvercure does not work for her.  If she was the only one the the family with eczema and we purchased Silvercure we would be GREATLY disappointed and I would think the same as you do.  But for our son, the story is very different.  Silvercure worked and cured his MC.

All and all just do not discount a treatment because one person said it did not work for them.

Just a word of warning about Zymaderm.  If your child suffers from eczema or dry skin, be very careful.  Even if they have typically healthy skin, I would still be careful not to get Zymaderm on healthy skin.  It is possible that if you allow ANY of this liquid to get on healthy skin, you may make good conditions that allow molluscum to spread.

Read the Zymaderm site, they will warn you as well. 

This is why we were much more successful with using Silver to treat the molluscum.  We were able to treat molluscum and healthy skin at the same time.  We did not have to be careful on where we got Silvercure Ointment or Body Lotion.  In fact, we COVERED our children with Silvercure while treating the mollsucum and still use the Silvercure Body Lotion to control my son's eczema.  The other children still use the Body Wash when they shower.

My recommendation with any topical treatment would be try a small amount on health skin and if it irritates the skin, DO NOT USE IT, otherwise try it for a 2-3 of weeks, if you see no improvement, you probably never will.

The studies I've read say that either mechanical treatment like scraping/squeezing (works but can scar) or 10% benzoyl peroxide work the best (about 90% clearance rate in 4 weeks). 10% Lemon Myrtle works about 60%.

The silver cure may or may not work (there was one uncontrolled study), but there's a risk of 'silver tattooing' which would be permanent.

I was diagnosed with mollusucm in March, and finally I can say it's all gone, I just wish I had known what I know now about the virus way back in March.  I had my doctor freeze some off, but of course, more came up.  Then, I read that apple cidar vinegar works... it's okay, but it's not very effective.  It makes the white core come up to the top so that it is easy to remove, but that alone will not cure it.  You need to buy tea tree oil, and apply it to the leisons.  I applied it every morning, after every shower, and every night after treating with apple cidar vinegar and removing the white cores.  My molluscum was gone in less than a week when I started using the tea tree oil.  I was skeptical about it, too, but it's what works.

My ex-boyfriend gave me molluscum. (He said he caught it from a toilet seat... yeah, right.)

My son (9) had a terrible case.  We have been treating it for about 2 weeks with a combination of 1) a bath each night with 15 drops of tea tree oil for 15 minutes and 2) a thuja occidentalis 30 (2 pellets in the am and 2 in the pm).  I don't know if it is one or the other or a combination, but they are nearly all gone.  They have dried out and are no longer spreading.  This is easy, pain free, and I hope this works for you.
