How to get rid of a wart?
«

There is a very old remedy (which works [
] - no joke)After a full moon night, go into a field where there is still some morning dew, find a naked snail and let her/him move over the wart, several times (might have to do it over a couple month) However, it has to be around full moon. The slime has a special potency during that time will eventually kill off the wart.
A friend of mine has used Oregano and Frankincense essentail oils on her warts. The Oregano can be very strong, so you may want to dilute the oil in a good vegetable oil. I personally would scrape off the top part a bit so that the oil can soak in faster. Be aware that this might sting quite a bit. Good luck with either recipe. Both work, believe it or not.

The easiest way to get rid of warts is to dab some urine on them. They'll just fall off after a couple of days. It's even older than your snail remedy, doesn't require a full moon and is probably more hygenic.

It probably works with your urine RobertH because of the amount you drink. You probably pee rocket fuel...[

What do you mean, probably? It's cheap fuel and fun to make.

The greatest way to get rid of a wart is DUCT TAPE! Place a small piece of tape over the wart for a week of so. leave it on or replace it daily. It works great. You can feel the wart shrinking under the tape. Really works![:p]

I tried the duct tape thing for 6 months and it didn't work for me. The doctor froze it twice - no luck. Finally an OTC wart medicine combined with duct tape worked. Slowly, but it worked.

Two things I have found work on warts. 1) Electrocauteroy removal. It leaves a big hole and an ugly scar, but they never return. 2) OTC salycilic acid preparations. You put the stuff on, then cover the wart with adhesive tape. Another version has the acid on rubber tape dots you just put on, then cover with adhesive tape. I suppose if you love duct tape you could use that too.

My Mother told me to use clear nail varnish, paint on warts and they vanish without a trace. use coloured nail varnish and people might give you strange looks. But seriously, the varnish shuts off the air supply and maybe the solvent is toxic to the wart also. The idea is to repaint as and when the old paint falls off as the wart shrinks.
Death is natures way of telling us to slow down.

This worked on my daughters warts on her feet. She had two, large warts that were removed twice by a foot doctor, cost of over $400 (and left 1/8 inch craters on the inside of her feet). The third time they came back I was determined to NOT pay another fee for surgery. The doctor said it can take anywhere from 2 to 5 surgeries to remove the virus completely.
Anyway, I was reading everything I could find and found this remedy. Take a fresh Banana peel, cut a small piece of the peel just big enough to cover the wart with a little excess around the side. Take medical tape and cover, leave on overnight while you sleep and remove in the morning. We did this for three consecutive nights and the warts were gone. It's been two years and they have NOT come back.
Recently I was reading a book on Apple Cider Vinegar and discovered that most warts are weak against potassium. People who have warts, usually are suffering from a potassium deficiancy, and fruits/vegetables high in potassium like APC (apple cider vinegar) bananas, and potatoes help to remove them. I had a very small wart on my eyelid, it is now gone after using a dilluted face toner made from APC and distilled water....Yippee!

Chub, thanks for sahring that. I have been studying potassium diet deficiency myself. Some of the low sodium salts now on the market are over 50% potassium. I have been using Black salt myself, tastes and smells a bit like boiled egg, due to high levels of sulphur in it. But makes everything taste so much better than normal sea salt or sodium chloride. It is used a lot in Indian Cuisine, probably why we can never make our vein attempts at cooking Indian meals taste like those cooked by the people from India.
Kala numlak, I think it’s called.
Your note about warts and low potassium also sheds light on many of the growths / tumours plaguing us today. Just wondering if any work has been published on Medline about increasing potassium levels and a reduction / disappearance of tumours?
BTW potatoes contain a lot more potassium than bananas.
Given me something to think about for sure, gratis.

Thanks Andrew. My sister said when she was a child our uncle told her to cut open a potato, rub the halves on her warts then bury it in the back yard....but the secret...you can never tell anyone where you buried it or the warts will come back! Her warts went away, and she said she never told anyone till she told me almost 40 years later! Kind of funny, my uncle was from the "hollor" area of West Virginia so I'm sure the last part was just for mystery.
Anyway, I always prefer home remedies if I can get 'em.

Hmmm... warts...my son had several. On his feet, fingers, chin. The annoying ones were the two that were growing under his finger nails. We took him to the skin specialist and he was treated but they kept coming back and growing faster then ever. We even tried the duct tape method. Then the Specialist told us that zinc tablets may work. Our son was 8 years old. We started him on 25mg of zinc each day for 2 weeks then increased it to 50 mg per day for 10 weeks. The warts started shrinking before our eyes.
He has been wart free by a painless method for over a year. Who would have though....zinc.

I had warts on my hands several years. I'd had them for years without really knowing what they were. I had one at the base of the fingernail of my index finger on both hands and one under the base of the fingernail on the middle finger of my right hand as well as on the the tips of both thumbs. The ones on my index and middle fingers were mosty a cosmetic problem, but I played piano and had lessons, and you can imagine what it was like playing the piano with warts on your thumbs right where you'd hit the key.
When I finally went to the dermatologist, she prescribed a conbination of treatments. Some of my warts could be treated by freezing them, but some were in sensitive enough places that it would risk lots of pain and possible nerve damage. So I was also prescribed a wart cream (no OTC, the strong stuff). Every night, I'd take an emery board and file down my warts as close as possible without bleeding, apply the cream to the exposed wart and wrap it up in duct tape. Since my wart were on the tips of my fingers, I had to wrap my finger up to the first knuckle. This hurts in the beginning, because there's no air in there (which is the point). I went through an entire roll of duct tape. The first roll was the good 3M kind. I bought a second roll of cheap duct tape. That stuff hurt like hell- worse than ever- people, always use the good 3M tape on warts.
It took a long time, but between the cream and freezing, the warts I'd had for years disappeared. However, now it appears that I have a new wart smack in the middle of the first joint of my thumb (inner area). Ah, I was only cured of one strain of warts. Figures I get another strain.

Hey, I tried ALL of it and more!!! The only thing I that EVER worked for me is something I found about 2 months ago at
****************
I figured I tried everything else, I might as well give this thing a try. The science behind it makes sense to me. Whammo- no more warts! I'm not always hiding my hands anymore. What a relief.

An old topic resurrected [
]
I just want to comment on the notion of using essential oils neat on the skin and issue a professional warning:
do not use essential oils undiluted on your skin
. If they are proper essential oils they're too strong to be used neat on the skin and always have to be diluted else you risk burns and / or allergic reactions - which can go from mild to severe depending on the case.
Having said that, application of Tea Tree
(Melaleuca alternifolia)
in a controlled way neat on the wart but avoiding the surrouding tissue has had excellent results, eradicating warts without further occurance. Put a few drops on a q-tip and dab onto the wart (avoid using straight out of the bottle as dosing accurately can be tricky) and reaply daily for a period of 2-4 weeks.

Alandriel, Do yo mean "don't put undiluted essential oils on your skin" or "do put undiluted essential oil (tea tree to be exact) on your skin?"
Your post says both.
