Every day i see acres of newsprint about such women whining and saying hey!..look at poor little me,...so and so... whamed bammed and thank you maamed me...i am pregnant and have no where to go...

They should stop whining when they get dumped with a couple of black eyes and suffer violence and abuse as they go to such thugs willingly and in the full knowledge this will happen.Even when they the reputation of such men in advance they will still go to them like fish to water.

Zero sympathy for such women and every time i come across such articles i skip it.

I think you have been hyperbolic in this statement. Usually, the "bad guys" are bad to other men, not to women. A lot of them are kind and gentle to their women.

Women search for good mates that will be genetically compatable with themselves but show that they will be good providers for the little ones once they come. Because we are all animals the prehistoric part of our brain still searches out a mate that would seem to be a good hunter. A good hunter has to be strong and tough and a little bit, well, bad. The brain is not being logical and hasn't caught up with the fact that todays good provider is intelligent and has a good job in the city. They don't need any fishing our hunting skills any more.
It has also been shown that both men and women tend to marry people that are like their parents as this is seen as the blue print for their relationship. My husband has characteristics of both my Mum and my Dad.

I didn't say anything of the sort. I said that when it comes to attraction the genes take over. Men do the same thing. they look for nurturing women, quite often with child bearing hips.

I look for the strong "alpha male", but I don't like a guy who will be mean to me. Actually, my first husband was into wrestling so I was drawn to him, but he was a jerk to me so I left him. I thought I found a nice wimpy guy after that, we had kids and got married, but he's in the Navy so I didn't live with him until after we already had the kids (everything happened so fast after I left my first husband). Anyway I've been quite disappointed that my "nice guy" is a macho jerk too. I was so sure he was sweet, he totally bait and switched me.

Yes-and-no, I think. I think there's been work done suggesting that people find the smell of t-shirts worn by people likely to be genetically compatible with them more attractive than others. I'm not sure of the details, as usual...
Not that this would be a concious thing, more an awareness that being close to this person is nice... an element of the "chemistry" early in a relationship, that sort of thing.
