Thank you.

I find that writing is the best way to vent your emotions in a constructive way. It can ease your pain and will always be a source to learn from.
I should have said at the bottom that 'An Old Friend' is about my dog Blaise, we had to have him put down on New Years day. But with that piece and some of what I have written is a way of celebrating memories of those close to me that I have lost. And through those pieces I will never forget them.

My pet cat  called pepper died about ten years ago !..he was 19 !...he was my best friend...so I know exactly how you feel.




This was my poem as tribute to Pepper:



Oh Pepper Pepper you are dead
You're in an urn propping up the bed  !

Neil - I love it.  No matter what, in any circumstance you make me laugh.  

Mirage - that was beautiful.  That's exactly how I feel about my little dog, Benji.  Last year at Christmas, he was attacked by a German Shepherd and nearly bled to death before we could get him to the vet.  Recently he was bitten by a venomous snake.  Each time he's been seriously injured, I watched the life draining from him and I could see the fear in his eyes.  My eyes still tear up now, and I feel this tightening in the pit of my tummy when I think about how close we've come to losing him.  Our pets bring so much to our lives.  Anyway, I loved your poem.  Thanks for sharing.

Here is one I just wrote about a hidden secret love.

I hate this silence
Strangling the patience out of me
All I need do is pick up the phone
Hoping that you’re there at home

So simple to say
So very hard to do
Obstacles of privacy ,a barrier of moss
It’s just that there are miseries, of gains and of loss

It feels like unrequited love
The wings are clipped of this iconic dove
Your too far to touch and my eyes can not see
The love that we share is forbidden in me

Pains.. the hurt, the urge…
Walls of mist defined by a sea
Too far this distance it strangles me
It’s autumnal, Our love is a fallen leaf

And yet there is a joy
To celebrate this love between a girl and a boy
Though be it the miles are many thus far
This love is which,  can not be bar

So I smile a face of shimmering light
Cos in my day dreams and ones of the night
I touch your presence and feel your skin
And celebrate the love within


My head is not what it used to be.

Carolyn, thank you. It is amazing how our pets really become part of us. And why not, they give us the most love we could ever want, and they always give it when we need it the most.
I always feel sad for everyone that has lost someone or their pet, you really do lose a part of yourself.

And cranial_implant, love it, reminds me of a time that I still carry the scar for. Brilliant piece.

Mirage....I am just so glad it made you smile..(and YOU too Carolyn)....I actually thought you might think it was in bad taste...and I was kind of biting my nuckles as I thought you might be offended.......So glad and relieved you are not chum.


It's true about my cat Pepper though (well..not the propping up bed bit !!...though he IS in an urn on my bookcase surrounded by photos !!)...but he was my bestest friend. I grew up with him and 19 is a really good age for cat.


Cranial...Like Mirage...you are truly gifted...

Ian, you amaze me at the depth of your feelings. The pain and agony deep inside of your soul for this very special person. You must love her with all that you are! That kind of love is so rare that you might feel it that once in ones lifetime if you are truely lucky! Your souls must be as one and your hearts must cry out to each other in desperation for that touch that feeling of fulfilment. Truely you are a lucky man to have such a deep love for a women that you could even manage through so many difficulties and obstacles and struggles and miles to keep that love for her strong and let it burn in your heart forever! I admire you and understand your pain.

I doth thinketh he expects me to wear down and go back to him and ask him for financial help or something...uh, like nooooooo!  LOL

  Hearts Desire


I'm lying here in the darkness of an empty house, my bed now cold and alone! I find myself drifting in and out and trying to touch you and ring your phone!
 
  I look to the shadows to see your face but alas your not here, but in a distant place! The tears well up, my face can not hide the desperation and the wanting that I have here inside!

   My face now streaming and wet with the tears I'm thinking about all of the wasted years! My heart knows your love, our secrets I do hide, and I will keep my promise to keep you burried love, deep inside!

  What you ask my love, this secret I keep, it torments my days and enters my sleep. I am restless and giddy and our love knows no bounds, but my heart is aching as it joyfully resounds!

  The silence is numbing, shadows fall still on my walls; Now I'm desperately clinging to the words from your call. My heart is aglow from my head to my toes, and I know that you Know that our love only grows!

   I love you sweetheart from your head to your toes and I even love your cute little nose, so untill the time we can be together again, always know you are my best friend!!!
