heyz i m a medical student i m in my 3rd year MBBS!well i m having very much difficulty in studying pharmacology so plz anyone from u can tell me easiest way to study and memorize pharma!coz i m tired of this subject and i cant find any easiest way to learn or memorize it! plz HELP me!!!!

Sorry mate, there's no easy way. You just need to learn the drug names and learn the actions.

Breaking it down by system is often useful however.

Structure your notes into cardiovascular system, respiratory system, GI system, Renal, nervous system. Then you subclassify the agents by action - agonists / antagonists and it's easier to remember.

I studied Pharmacology at Portsmouth University (some of you may remember the post which nearly got me thrown off the course. Damn that Geometric isomerism!!!)

If you are still struggling and need help please carry on reading:

I found that PHarmacology is best learned parrot fashion. Which particular aspect are you having difficulty with? Drug names? Remebering actions/indication of drugs?

You can often work out what a drug does by breaking the name down into two sections this will give you a clue.

I would do as Chris suggests and break it down by body system. I found that repetition really drummed it into my head and I am now able to recall most things from memory (particularly antidepressants as these were err popular with the lecturers due to the fact that most GPs give them out like smarties!)

I found that reading small chunks of Rang, Dale and Ritter helped as well. This is an excellent book and covers everything you will ever need to know about Pharmacology.
