How do I make my own Hover Craft?
« on: 20/06/2003 18:35:39 »
I've seen the ads in the back of those magazines for building your own Hover-craft. When I get my boys this summer, I'd like to build one, but can't seem to find the ad again. Can someone explain the ins and outs of "Hover-craft-ism" to me. I have a basic knowledge of how it works, but would like to know if there are any hints that I'm not aware of. My concept of it is probably quite archaic and need some assistance. I don't want my boys to hear Daddy cursing profusely and would like to know what may frustrate me in this project, not knowing off hand. It would also be a good thing if we were not bleeding when it were all done and tested. Any hints out there.

Educate me, please,

Ronnie

Anyone? I can't seem to find a significant amount of information from the web / print. Anyone know of a site to look at or print to suggest? Anything would help.

Thanks,
Ronnie

Ronnie,

I found a web page on 'Hoverboard' well, this is not exactly what you wanted but I think it will help.

Wow! That is a great site. Very informative. Thanks again, Angel. Now, I've got to get back there and kill several hours learning "How Stuff Works".

So can we just use a lawnmower engine or what? That’s what my Boys Life mags said we could do anyway. Then again that was many years ago and we have already had this conversation. Maybe I'll just check out that site and keep my mouth shut.

Great. Have a great night.

I would be surprised if a lawnmower engine develops sufficient power. We used to use 2 cyliner 2 stroke motorbike engines (developing at least 25 hp). The fan you need to drive is huge.
