No, it wasn't, you can't trust Goggle/M$ own helpsides for it, and it's even more clever than just checking the link the email sends you to, so while bleeping computer got it right, it's even more sophisticated.

Whatever you do getting one of those, don't click on any links in it.

Go outside, look at 'help sides' from Google or whatever provider you use, copy the message and google it. But don't do as they tell you inside that email.

Ah yes, and check your activity in your providers 'security' to see if it is mentioned at all.

You can always change your password of course, just to be sure. But if it doesn't exist in your 'recent security activity' as Google/M$ likes to call it, it's a good bet that it is a scam. But those help pages wasn't that good from M$, never stating right out how easy it was to fake them.
