Which key combination did I push on my keyboard?
« on: 26/11/2009 00:23:17 »
I accidentally pushed a key combination on my keyboard and it switched to the "French Canadian" keyboard and many of the keys are wrong. Don't know how to undo. Drives me crazy! I want the US keyboard setting.

Help!

(For some VERY strange reason, the keyboard is normal again. If someone knows why, I would appreciate it. I suffered this strange keyboard setting for too long to not want to know how it happened and how to remedy it.)

Apparently there is a choice to switch languages: "Left Alt+shift" or "Ctrl+shift" ...

Presumably if you select "None" your keyboard cannot accidentally go Français again.

Thank you. This was very helpful. I do not have the same keyboard window (as shown above) so I cannot prevent this change from occurring, but I am certain it is the CTRL/Shift key combo that does that. I do not have a language option in the keyboard properties window. Anyhow, thanks!

The "None" option, (i.e. no hotkeys for language switch), is available in Vista ...

It changes the screen orientation to match the cursor key pressed.

(I have actually found this useful when using a netbook to review a document by changing the orientation 90°...  I have not managed to work out why anyone (even our antipodean chums) would want the display permanently upside down)

If the display was mounted horizontally, like a tabletop, it could be useful to rotate the image 180o.

Well, if you had to lie on your back, you could look at the screen via a mirror mounted at 45 degrees above your head.

Using which software?
