Hi,
What are the prospects of statins (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors) as an anti-osteoporotic drugs? Are they anti-resorptive or anabolic drugs?

Hi Jimmy, welcome. I'll see what I can find. Be patient.

Hi Jimmy,
Looks like statins may have antiresorptive and anabolic effects on bone.

There seems to be some confusion regarding various studies. This is an overview. There are some interesting links through this site.

There is also some concern that statins inhibit CoQ
10
synthesis.

Hope that helps.

And now also concern that statins may affect memory :

What are some of the long term effects say of Pravastatin...?
I have been on it for about 2 years now.. I have both osteo and Rhumotoid Arthritis so how would this react to those factors? How does it effect the bone and The memory intrigues me as I have had real trouble there since after my mini stroke.. not like long term stuff but short term.. like I get up to get something and don't get to steps and have forgotten and get confused going back and forth in my head then don't even know what I had been doing or where I was before I found myself standing up confused about ..what?
?? LOl Its horrible..
