I do not think you should believe a satirical site.

I agree, but as Defsync points out, the author would have to know something to have written this spoof. And I'm curious as well to find out what he does know. We're not exactly a well-know fodder for humor on Letterman, so maybe the author knows something we don't? Can't hurt to try and find out.

ty demo, i figured it was obvious why i was curious =) but moving on, i am curious now about this:

Speaking about the mental aspect of POIS:

Say because of whatever POIS is, something is messed up in our body that causes other problems, ie, a certain % of memory and cognitive dysfunction even when we havent O'ed in forever. Of course we cannot really measure what our fullest cognitive n memory functions would be, since we really have no point of reference.

I am interested in seeing w/e this "treatment" is, and being open to the possibility that trying the treatment alone, without O'ing, might bring benefits in and of itself.

This assumes of course that there is a standing deficiency within the body wherein an O causes all these POIS symptoms.

Can Dr. Waldinger at least give us a timeline of when the information may be published?

I'm gonna ask him about JAMA! Anyone else have questions?

Why don't you ask him where exactly he heard about POIS?

And by the way, I'd also like a copy of that study, Thanks.

Good idea, Dean!

OK, article sent to you by email.

(EVERYONE, we (Pyro, Limejuice or me) can only send  article PDF via email, can't attach pdf's to PM's)

Dr Waldinger is in the dark about timing. It could be tomorrow, it could be ____(?)_______ . Peer review process is really an unknown, as are publishing final decisions. I would just take his word that it will "expectedly and hopefully be within 2010." I know...it can be maddening. But he says to be assured that this is research that is superior to anything else done worldwide!

I agree with your cognitive function concerns in and OUT of POIS. I have been diagnosed with ADHD. I am very skeptical of the whole ADD/ADHD business, especially for kids, but nevertheless stimulant drugs - which I had resisted for many years but finally relented - have helped me enormously, both in and out of POIS.

Because of the dramatic success of stimulants - I'M JUST SPEAKING FOR MYSELF NOW - I'm sure I have problems in the cognitive areas of memory, attention and the like.

POIS-related? Excellent question and I don't have a clue! I'm just thrilled something has now helped for 4+ years. I self-medicated for years with caffeine, and as anyone can tell you, that's not a good road to take.

Thanks for bringing up the topic!

I tried this: a half an hour before an O I took 1 Xyzal (antihistamines). And then directly after the O a NSAID. Let's see if I recover faster.

Tommorow I'm going to try magnesium preparations. I will not be the cure. But I read that magnesium is very good for the muscles and joints. Maybe this wil improve the recovory.

Thanks for reporting this, and best wishes!!

Dr W just replied very warmly, expressing "high appreciation" to Defsync, Martin, and me for this initiative. He is looking forward to reading the forum posts in more detail.

It's brilliant to read that Dr Waldinger has continued his research into POIS. .
Demo, could I get a copy of the Ashbey paper please?
Well done everyone on the continued posts and for tirelessly driving things forward

For my part I have not much progress to report. However,  my doc has referred me to some specialists in sexual medicine who are apparently aware of POIS and I am currently waiting for an appointment which may take some weeks to come through. Of course I'll update the forum about any leads.

NOTE: I actually did sleep through POIS on Monday this week, exactly as described! (but without the Intergalaxy, UN, and Oprah embellishments).

I wanted to post about it straightforwardly, but I thought this way might get across the idea better  [:)]

Demo, I like your style.
Got the paper (the Ashby one!), thanks - look forward to reading that.

I'm sorry to read that POIS occurs in other galaxies, I wouldn't wish it on alien life-forms. At least we'll have something in common to talk about when they arrive on Earth though. Who'd have thought that such an awkward to approach subject would be the first thing you'd share with an alien?

That's why Roswell is still a hush hush cover-up. "They" don't want the public at large to know that we got POIS from them!
