I feel that somehow, what I do to control the orgasm creates a controlled retrograde flow that initiates a process (auto-immune) which terminates within the 24 hrs. On odd occasions, I can have the milky pee within hours of the "O", in which case the symptoms drop off within a few hours as well.

This time, no milky pee, and medium symptoms for 4 days. Then milky pee, but without much relief of the symptoms. The symptoms are primarily physical...

That sounds complicated.  Do you think it has anything to do with milky pee?  I know that urinating is supposed to create a "feel good" reaction within the brain, maybe that helps with your symptoms, it actually helps with mine.

please somebody help me on here. for three years+ after sex or masturbation my abdomen begins to hurt. day 2 my entire right testicle and abdomen is in pain and by day 3 its all the way up into my shoulder and head. sometimes i am shaky and lethargic and also causes constipation and diffuculty sleeping. these side effects always happen in the same progression after sexual arousal or sex of any sort.i go to the er, my doctor, urologists, all of them say there is nothing. yet i am in severe pain for days even weeks on hand. the pain is gone maybee 4 to 5 days a month at best. does this seem like a case of pois? i am at my end of trying to find a doctor that doesn't think i am crazy or just looking to get pain meds. anybody please have any suggestions or can anyone relate to these issues i am having.

Hey guys

was just surfing the net and found something interesting.
I found that mucuna beans can help boost testosterone, serotonin and other chemical and hormones that's good for us.  It may help us I don't know.

opeth41, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, none of us are physicians, and since POIS is so unknown, most of us here have simply come to our OWN conclusion that "we have POIS". Perhaps the welcome letter will help you, but I wouldn't advise getting any diagnosis from anyone, physicians included,  over the Internet, sight unseen!

Best wishes!!

opeth41, welcome to the POIS thread of The Naked Science Forum!

Here are some POIS resources which may be helpful to you:

Our POIS Information Website, built by "mat780", is here:
http://sites.google.com/site/POISwebsite/

Please see "B_Jim"'s POIS Summary of All Cases, here as well as others on the Web. This includes remedies that we have tested, and results.
http://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=6576.msg149009#msg149009

Filling out the POIS survey created by "Counterpoints" can help you to share more POIS information and details with others here, as well as with future outside researchers.
http://pois.olympe-network.com/

"Girlwind" has created an excellent POIS Video:

Our new POIS chatroom (realtime chat). Invite or visit another member(s) there, ANY TIME. We can all get to know each other better:

First POIS Research Study, 2002

We have a copy of the first formal medical investigation on POIS by Prof. dr. Marcel D. Waldinger,MD,PhD, and Dr. Dave Schweitzer, MD.

Recent POIS Research Study, 2010

British Medical Journal Case Report, 2010
Case study by Dr. Selwyn Dexter of a patient with a headache-featured POIS symptom treated with progesterone/norethisterone.

There are a couple of ways to get any or all of the above 3 studies: (1) if you want a PDF copy, send me a Private Message (PM) with your regular email address (use "AT" instead of "@" ) and I'll send you back the PDF.

Or, if you prefer, (2) I can simply reply with a Private Message (no regular email needed) and provide you with a simple text version embedded in your PM.

To send a Private Message, click on "Messages" at the top of this page. At the Messages page, click on "New Message". From that point on, it works just like posting a message here, except that it only goes to the person(s) you designate.

Remember to put a quote around my name, i.e., "demografx".

Sex and Depression: In the Brain, if Not the Mind

In addition to serving our own informational interests, the resources listed above can be useful for you to show our credibility to the medical world - which often shows little understanding and is sometimes skeptical of our condition: POIS has scientific underpinnings and POIS is not "just another psychological problem" related to sex - to be treated by the psychiatric/psychotherapeutic community. All of this information can greatly help you to fight the immediate reaction of some doctors: so just tell them, "IT'S NOT 'ALL IN OUR HEADS'! "

Also, it can be helpful when dealing with medical professionals to point out the successful existence of our rapidly growing forum, which has already been referenced in respectable sources such as the British Medical Journal and wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postorgasmic_illness_syndrome

For over 3 years, our POIS forum has attracted over 150 POIS sufferers worldwide who have posted here, plus over 700,000 page visits. Not bad for a rare malady!

opeth41, this post will help you find information about POIS that we have already discussed, by tailoring a Google search to this forum:

SEARCH THE FORUM WITH GOOGLE

We have an overwhelming amount of data: 3 years' worth of posts (nearly 9,000 posts!) from 150+ Forum members, and an additional 150 POIS sufferers found elsewhere on the Internet by Member B_Jim.

In the Google search box, type
whatever-it-is-you're-interested-in-finding-out[space]POIS[space]site:http://thenakedscientists.com/

for example, I tried
demografx POIS site:http://thenakedscientists.com/

and 1,000+ results came up for "demografx" within the Forum.

be careful with spaces (you can use them before the word "site") and no-spaces (everything after the word "site")

Google even provides you results with the Message# for each result. But Message #'s do change, so be patient and look for the approximate Message#.

P/T (Progesterone/Testosterone)

Would someone kindly refresh my memory. Which study/article started the P/T combo interest? Dexter's?

demo, the idea came when i asked my doctor if it was safe to try progesterone. she told me that she heard it was safe to try because they were testing it as a male contraceptive. a few weeks later i decided to look it up and found that they used a P/T combo to suppress spermatogenesis.  so basically it came from the study about progesterone and post cotial headaches, because i was researching why progesterone might stop pois. that is the simple answer how the idea showed up on this forum.

Then I would call it the Dexter-Lauracostis Experiment  [:)]

I think I'll try to have it analysed, although I'm not sure how to coordinate the tests.... can I store it? Or have an order ready and when it comes out milky, take it immediately. I have usually been able to predict when the pee will be milky, this is the first time that it has surprised me.

I had an UTI 2 months ago. I then had an antibiotics. A week later I had complaints and the replacer of my urologist gave me antibiotics. Later I heard that the urine was clean. Since then I drink cranberry juice and a tablet. The time is too short to say if it had effect. Time will tell.

Today I'am trying 5 HTP pills. Let's see how I feel tomorrow. For today I hope I can sleep fast.
It's very expensive. 30 pills for 17 euro. That's more than 50 cents a piece.

Is there anyone here who's had a testicle torsion in the past?

Haven't heard that one before, but undescended testicle has been discussed.

I believe T is manufactured in the testicles, no idea about P.

Testosteron in the adrenal and the testicles.
Progesterone in the adrenal cortex.

Very Exciting [Waldinger] news! I cant wait for relief!
My problems are complex, involving long term lyme disease and CFS [chronic fatigue syndrome], and having pois as a part of this really makes life quality poor. I am a postive person, and have thrown everything at this problem, but nothing has helped for the pois.
THANK GOD I HAVE A WONDERFULLY UNDERSTANDING WIFE, CHILDREN AND FAMILY! I printed out the Dr's letter last night, and had my wife read it...we both cried last night in bed....
Thanks goes out to ALL who have posted on here, and offered advice and encouragement.I found this thread after months of looks for answers....THANK GOD FOR YOU ALL!! Every doctor i have described the symptoms to all thought i was nuts...
It seems the body responds poorly to the act, and instead of it being a good, pleasurable experience, it makes it a negative, very bad response.
Thank you DR Waldinger, we axiously await your fidings...May I be your 1st guinea pig??lol

BELATED THANKS FOR YOUR VERY INSPIRATIONAL WORDS!
