Hi everyone. Should I do this? Please let me know! (This is from The Spoof writer)

Hey, [demografx], I was thinking: Would you be willing to be the subject of a formal interview?  I would publish it in The Spoof Magazine, which is free form.

I always conduct interviews via email, so there is never any question as to the accuracy of quotes. I would ask for a signed release, and offer you the right of final approval before publication.

I own all my work published on thespoof.com, and would of course grant you license to do whatever you'd wish with it, including unlimited license to publish for profit.

Let me know and we'll discuss in greater detail, OK?

Thanks.

Hi Demo,

My initial reaction to this request is skepticism.  You/we've done much leg work to publicize our condition, and lately we have been drawing much attention from it.  I feel we are less desparate now and can be more picky about the type of publicity we participate in, but this interview is ultimately your decision.  I wouldn't want him to ruin the reputable name you've built over the last 3 years.

What are your feelings about the interview?

i say go for it demo, they say any press is good press

I posted a link of this POIS-forum on a Dutch health forum. I will try to find more where I can post a link to this POIS-forum.
Maybe it's an idea for others to do the same in their country. The more POIS-patients are gathered how bigger the chance is that we find medication that can bring relief. And if the group is bigger, the chance is bigger that one of us gets a good treatment by a doctor.
Now we are with 200+. There are a lot of people who have POIS, some never heard about POIS.

It seems that now I have POIS symptoms that never end thoroughly. Previously, I had POIS for a day, then for a week, two weeks.. Furthermore, now I have a permanent strong headache which almost kills me socially. I think it is complications of POIS. I visited a neurologist 5 times already who prescribed various treatments for me, but all failed.
It totally ruins me.

LJ, many thanx! I guess I'm feeling just a bit squeamish about it. Thanx for telling me I'm not crazy to feel that way. The writer is an awfully nice guy.

Does anybody have a strict sleep schedule, say from 9 p.m.  to 8 a.m. everyday?  It seems like the earlier I sleep, the better I feel the next day.  If i go to sleep past 12 a.m. I'll likely accomplish next to nothing the next day.

It's weird, I feel that sleep, or the hormones released in sleep, helps me emotionally, but not mentally.  It adds to the brain fog that i have, like a literal cloud in the front of my head.  I wake up with night sweats now, that is something that's new to me.  I woke up around 4 a.m. last morning and the front of my head was 100% brain fog, i had trouble focusing and felt like there was literally crap right behind my eyes inside my head.  It's a rediculous feeling, but when I go to sleep earlier it's not as bad.  Can anybody relate to this?

You have to follow your own feeling about this.

The Naked Scientist is a program of the BBC. Doesn't anybody have contacts with this program? Maybe this idea is discussed earlier.

My problem after an O is that I can't sleep that night. No matter how long I stay in bed. It's hard to fall asleep because of my joints en muscles. The following day I wake up broken. No matter how long I stayed in bed. For example on saturday.

Im exactly that same way too.  But my joints and muscles are not affected, it's just my mentality.  Like maybe a constant flow of adrenaline at night which prevents me from sleeping and leaves me totally burned the next day.  I'm not sure its adrenaline, but its a definite reaction going on.

You can't sleep because the body is stiff. That's because of the joints and muscles.

At least in my case, I don't feel like anything is ever damaged, although it feels that way sometimes. Eventually, everything seems to return to normal. I think it's only "temporary damage".

Good email. Thanks Demo! I am glad that Dr Dexter is being serious with POIS. Hopefully he will make a breakthrough.

I agree, I think we need to look at every serious option - and not stop - until a cure for POIS is found!

Anti-depressants, from my perspective, definitely don't help and deal with a different aspect of the brain and mood.

Hi, two questions to consider:

1) who has a lot of hair? does POIS affect more people with or without hair??

2) I'm called "itsallgood" because POIS have had some positive effects on me. And I think it is one thing to help me cope with this horrible condition. Has anyone else can think on a positive thing that POIS brought with it?

1)  Yes, full head of hair, really hairy actually

2)  No, not really, except a whole different outlook on life.  I do feel more serious than i used to and yes I can say i feel more "pure"

I really do think stress was the cause of my POIS.  And dealing with work for me is in the same area POIS occurs in my brain.  It's funny,  I also used to gamble a lot and play video games competitively (xbox 360 halo) when I was younger and developed POIS.  When I gamble or play now, just sitting there with the adrenaline, it is in the same area as POIS and I get really stressed out like POIS, so i try to stay away from it (I'm a teenager not a 80 year old gamer, no offense to the 80 year old gamers, just don't want to give out the wrong impression :}  ).  Is this some type of adrenaline/stress related disease?

Cheers for sharing. I guess the first question is for older guys to answer as in our teens is hard to know whether we will later on lose hair or not. I am in my mid twenties and have a head full of hair and just wondering whether POIS sufferers have in general a head full of hair. I have a small theory where males that get bold its like a sign that things working well in their body and that the baldness is just like the very end product of hormone conversation. But is anyone here is bold and still suffering??

I'm balding badly at my crown and temple areas. My 57 year old father has more hair than I do!!! Baldness does not run in my family, all siblings have a forset on their head, where as I have a little grass patch and a hairline which starts parallel to the middle of my ears, it's embarrassing to say the least.

Every morning I wake up, I use a lint hair roller to catch the hair on my pillow :( and it's not a pretty site.

Chronic stress levels combined with POIS agony seem to be the clear indicators contributing to hair loss in my case, along with low testosterone levels, I've been loosing hair gradually since aged 15.

You are not alone, it feels as though POIS is becoming my identity. I too remember the days where it used to last for just under a week and then I could continue as normal (per se) but now it's just lasting for ages, weeeks and weeks on end and the recovery factor isn't any good :(

As for now, I'm just in a mild POIS state permanently (much, much worse after an orgasm though), if I go to my doctor and address these issues, I'm just going to be treated for GAD, which may be a contributing factor, after all living with stress all day every day, I refuse to believe GAD is the cause as clearly after an extended period without orgasm induced POIS I can function reasonably well, and the GAD symptoms are prevalent then but I can cope with it.

If anyone has any ideas how to present and introduce POIS to my endo for tomorrow please PM your thoughts!

I've only discussed it with a select few doctors and all the while received stares like I'm from a different planet altogether, or just ignored.
