Right now I have been working with my endocrinologist on this lately, so I'm trying to seem him again asap (Feb. 1st) I wonder if it will be a waste of time, and if I should go to a urologist instead.
I was surprised to hear the "allergy theory". I have had allergic reactions to things, and they are totally unlike POIS symptoms. From my understanding, an allergy is caused by something like an irritant that the body is trying to reject through things like swelling, itching, sneezing, redness, etc.
Also, I looked at the actual articles (just emailed by Dr. W), and in the abstract it mentions: "...exhaustion and concentration difficulties in 80% and 87% of subjects."
The Reuters article which is driving most other news reports:http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE70G00D20110117?feedType=RSS&feedName=healthNews
Thanks Demo for all your work! The young guys who have POIS are maybe VERY lucky if we have a treatment and if more research is conducted. They'll avoid the 20-30 years of suffering some of us, including you, went through during their life!DHAT syndrome (to me it seems similar to POIS) is not so rare. Maybe it's the right time to say this if some people want to help for more research :http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2918320/Background:The area of men's sexual health has been poorly understood, particularly with reference to South Asian cultures. The belief that losing semen is detrimental to health is a concept common to both Oriental and Occidental thinking.Aim:To estimate the number of patients with the dhat syndrome consulting different professionals in Lahore and to examine their demographic characteristics.Method:Seventy health professionals of various types were approached and asked to fill in a daily record form for all patients reporting at their clinics for a period of 1 month. Results:A total of 1777 patients were reported to attend the outpatient clinics of health professionals of various types over a period of 1 month. The majority of patients consulted hakims for professional help. Most of the patients were single, with a mean age of 24 years and had a monthly income of less than Rs 3000.Conclusion:These data have important implications for patients, professionals and researchers. The alarming number of people consulting various professionals to seek help for anxiety due to semen loss highlights the fact that research into and interventions for this neglected area of men's sexual health are urgently required ....The total number of patients with the dhat syndrome reported by different health professionals was 1777
Hey, have you all taken a look at the links that Dr. Waldinger posted to his websites?http://www.post-orgasmic-illness-syndrome.com/en/index.htmlorhttp://www.post-orgasmic-illness-syndrome.com/en/index.htmlThere, he lists the following symptoms: "Extreme fatigue, painful muscles, a flu-like state with itching eyes, congestion of the nose or a watery nose, a feverish feeling, sore throat and headache, but also irritability, difficulty in focusing attention, and difficulty in formulating sentences."So, he does seem aware of the cognitive/emotional aspects. This lends further support to my hypothesis that his 'flu-like' focus in the reports on may have been for strategic purposes. (Again, one could potentially question what the proper strategy should be, but I think his approach has at least some good grounds in its favor.)
"They didn't feel ill when they masturbated without ejaculating, but as soon as the semen came from the testes...after that they became ill, sometimes within just a few minutes," Waldinger said. Some of us get "minor POIS" from arousal alone. If I was to masturbate without ejaculating I will still get minor form of POIS.
I think we should ask Prof.Dr Waldiner what he thinks about " Intralymphatic allergen administration" as treatment for this serious allergy (what suggested Vandemolen 3 earlier!)I talked with a french doctor about it (by the phone) and it is worth to try it since it only last from 8 weeks to 4 months and it has exactly the same improvements of the 5 years hyposensitization! It is even mentionned on some articles that it is faster and safer .Do you know when we could talk by phone with Prof.Dr Waldinger? Anyways, it feels like people will talk about it and the "Semen allegy" is a great title to catch the public []
lmao. Yes, did I read the article wrong?btw we made the huffington post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/

From my understanding, an allergy is caused by something like an irritant that the body is trying to reject through things like swelling, itching, sneezing, redness, etc. I notice an immediate and very 'stuffy' nasal congestion and even light sneezing at times. This then "morphs" into the other symptoms that we're all more familiar with. Strange but true (for me).
