I mean, it's pretty obvious from the way that the sequence is constructed that you can make the latter members by adding up former ones
8+13= 21
8+13+13= 34
[8+13]+[8 +13 +13] =21+34 = 55
[8+13+13] +[8+13+8 +13 +13] =34+55= 89

And I guess Osiris is a bit miffed about the number 4 having been left off the sequence.
So, you haven't really said anything worthwhile.

They chose 12 s a number system because it is 2*3*2.
It's convenient to have a number base with lots of factors, and you get those by multiplying numbers, rather than by adding them.

Similarly, putting a factor of 5 into the mix gives you 2*3*5=30. Another factor of 2 gives 60.

It's nothing to do with addition, nor 3,4,5 triangles.
