If the damage from immune reaction is more prominent?Sometimes we do administer steroids to damp down the immune response in a range of situations. I have seen reports indicating that doctors in China have been conducting small scale trials of steroids in some patients with Covid-19 to see if the immune bystander damage can be mitigated. One downside of doing this though is that it prolongs the illness and the period of time for which the patient remains infectious, which is not optimal.
