onto tires into drive line perhaps then onto transmission across underside of car to outer fender panel whoop up across fender and voil'a! Snail on outer fender.. LOL easy if you are a snail or mechanic!LOL

A bird may ahve caught the snail and then dropped it. A bird may also have been the unintended conveyance for a snail. Bizarre as it sounds, Charles Darwin correctly predicted that snails found inhabiting remote volcanic islands in the south Atlantic, and bearing striking resemblance to European snails, could have come by "pigeon post"; that is quite literally hitched a lift with a migrating bird.

In 2005 the power of molecular biology proved him right. A species of Balea snail from Europe was a close match for snails slithering around on the Tristan de Cuna islands of the south Atlantic, 3000 km away. The snails secrete sticky mucus, which they used to anchor themselves onto the bird's plumage.

Have you all never been under a car before??? Your axel's are connected to the tire he can slide along to the transmission, where it is attached to bottom of engine which is attached to body panels..slide along under body panel to edge of fender panel slide right on around panel and onto outer fender no teleporting necessary! LOL

Only a slight correction - most cars these days are front wheel drive.

Ofcourse, Sean did not tell us the make and model of the car in question, so it might be rear wheel, or four wheel drive; but the majority will not have a drive line going to the rear axle.

Not that it matters, since I would suspect the most logical route for a snail to take would probably be up the suspension struts (not that I am expecting a lot of logic from your average snail).
