Is Oxford's vaccine less likely to cause anaphylactoid reactions than Pfizer's?
« on: 06/01/2021 19:33:04 »
Janet asks the following:

I am a 76 year old female and due to have the vaccine by mid February. I am not allowed to have the Pfizer jab as I carry an EpiPen for venom allergy - not for food, meds or other vaccines. Is the Oxford/AZ vaccine less likely to cause anaphylactoid reactions?

Can anyone help?

I don't think we can say that. Any drug or medicine, including a vaccine, can have side effects, including severe allergic reactions. A past history of allergy to one thing does not necessarily mean a likely reaction to something else. The MHRA have revised their guidance around allergy and the Pfizer vaccine, so I would, if I were you, ask your GP to re-evaluated your suitability.
