Hey Chris, I'd like to hear more about your trip (besides the difference in beer).  What's different than you expected?

What about the UK and other parts of europe.  Other than a lot of internal invasions, they have been pretty much left to their own devices haven't they? [:D]

[Yes Neil, I do get your point.]  I think there are some tribes in the Amazon basin that have had almost no contact with "civilization".  But I don't really romanticize living in the stone age.  It was a hard life.

Wait a minute.  There's a Cambridge in the UK?  It's just that in my remote tribe that's totally isolated from everything, I had no way of knowing.

It's true.  Almost all accents are sexy to American women.  British and French are probably the most beloved.  I think Scottish is the best.  The sad thing about living in the UK is you get used to the accent and can't drool over it constantly.  And then when you hear the American accent you drone on and say, 'Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh my gawddddddddddddd!  I don't REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY sound like that, do I?'  (Yes, you do).

Also, the facts that people don't know may be embarrassing, like which kangaroo Prince Charles rode to get to Paul McCartney's concert etc.  However, what's more embarrassing I think is when people lack basic skills like calculating in their heads what 11 plus 24 is, as so often happens on British TV quizzes (not that I watch them too often).

Crikey, I go away for a week and you've been busy running down the Americans and commenting on one of the finest beers (Coopers) available in the world. Considering the cradle of the human race was in Africa, we're all immigrants in one form or another. It's just how long we've been here. I've been in Australia my whole life, and my family roots have been here for a number of generations. That makes me as much Aussie as any Aborigine currently living doesn't it? My son has half my genes and half his mother's (she's a Maori), but he is also an Aussie.
Also, Americans are great! Any race that is prepared to invest trillions of hard earned dollars and many lives of the younger generation to protect basic human rights in another country is OK by me. There is the odd loony in any general population, and I guess that the more people there are in that population, the more wierdos there are. In my travels, I haven't found any race very different (apart from minor external and language variations). We are all kind, friendly and hospitable. We are all part of the human race! Out of the 5 or 6 billion of us currently around, maybe a couple of thousand are causing unnecessary instability. The rest of us are just doing our thing and getting on with life.

C'mon guys, you make me blush. I only wrote what everyone already knows. When you look past the politics and the cr@p spewed out by the media in all it's forms, and get down to an individual level, most people just want the same things. Laughter, enough stuff to live, friends, family, not too many worries and lots and lots of sex and beer. Well, maybe not everyone (particularly Neil) wants beer.

Hi Chris,

It's still undecided and I haven't been around to chase it up. I'll see what I can find out. I've been trying to arrange it for early July. It means I've got to go to the pub (damn), so I'll try and get down there tonight. The main problem is the bloke that arranges the trips has normally stumbled home by the time I finish work. I'll let you know.

Beer....euchh !!!...Beer, ale, lager...yuchh !!..I can't taste the difference. One thing I have noticed though in my humble few years as temporary resident of this planet is that as a teen I found most kids were saying that it's an acquired taste !!...I don't get it...if you don't like it in the first place why continue to sample said yucky stuff...still...I suppose it's a social etiquette kind of thing initially eh ?  I never did the pub thing...while all the lads were down the pub I was playig with the girls !! (hee hee)

Didn't you attend university, Neil. The consumption of large quantities of beer is normally a requirement of most courses and will result in higher grades (particularly for part time students, like I was).
How do you keep hydrated, anyway. Have you seen what fish do in water?

Roberth !!...you are the voice of reason yet again, cos that's it !!..That is why I do not drink...I never went to Uni....Now I know why students leave Uni with so much debt...it's to repay the loans they got to buy alcohol !!....*sigh*....am I the only tea-totaller on this site ?

That's why students drink beer. Because it's cheap and when I went to uni there was no course fees (ahh, I loved the 70's) so you had to spend your money on something. And yes, you probably are the only tea-totaller in the entire world.
It's no wonder you don't sleep very well!

Hi Rob

we leave in mid July, and my brother, Richard, is here until the beginning of July (I think he leaves on the 3rd). Therefore a fishing trip around that time would be ace.
