I have tried in vein to have conversation and to make corrections to science where it is incorrect.  However I am seemingly up against it and the odds are not in my favour discussing to a ''cult'' that will not and does not want to listen or know the truths.
I have spent and wasted years of my life trying to explain and trying to get science to understand.  I am wasting my breath and I know it does not matter how correct I am, ''science'' will never let me in and would rather continue the subjective education rather than admittance of the truth.
I would also say to any readers who are reading this and believe something to be wrong, do not even bother they will  never listen to you properly. I have no real indication that science as ever listened to me, so although I feel sad in my decision, this being the best science forum on the internet, I now ask for a life ban so I can just forget all the science I know.

I have certainly found it a personal challenge to explain complex scientific theories in the simplest and clearest way possible.

I'm sympathetic to this post, and although you might try to express this sentiment a little more clearly, I suspect you may be basically correct in your understanding of the situation.  I often feel like I'm wasting my breath as well.  It's not really that logical for me to continue, and I do so mostly because I'm an incurable typoholic, a fairly normal mental disorder I try to have a sense of humor about.

I don't honestly think that scientists in general are that interested in the public.  Most will ignore us entirely.  Some will talk at us.  Few will talk with us.  Like most human beings, scientists are usually the most comfortable when they are playing the role of teacher.  It's probably not going to work to ask them to play the role of student, unless you occupy a higher position than they do on the intelligentsia todem pole.

But it's not just scientists.   The net is built largely of tribal clans of like minded people, and the primary function of any clan is to serve as a mutual validation society for it's members.  If you support a tribe's self flattering illusions, you are welcomed as their new pal.  If you rock the boat, that might be ok if the process allows the tribe members to reinforce their own beliefs in resisting you.  The greatest sin is to rock the boat effectively.  Then you have to go.  Pretty much everybody on the Net and life in general plays by these rules, not just scientists.

We're probably all wasting our breath if we think we can reason our way out of the most important challenges facing humanity.  The real teacher is pain.  Once nature has relentlessly clubbed us over the head about a hundred times, only then might we turn to reason in desperation.

I was excited to find this science forum.
I am very disappointed though because it appears to be lead around by a bunch of small minded people that don't broaden their thinking when it comes to definitions and topics. They just see a word they don't like and automatically apply a narrow definition do it calling it quackery.
I never understood how smart people can be so dumb and stuck closed off in their world.

Scientific studies and research is being found out in several areas to have a lot of flaws in the studies.
You can find studies to support nearly any position.
There are small sample sizes, corporate interest funding them, too short of study intervals, often times not the gold standard of double blind placebo studies, and meta studies of studies that have errors. There is also no reproduction of results. I've also been through the university system with top honors and observed how many grad students research things under pressure leading to poor data and results.

I refuse to waste my time dealing with people who don't see the complexities, don't consider confounding factors, and use strict definitions of things causing needless arguments. They just label everything myth and quackery. Perhaps they have become frustrated with all the quackery that does exist and become too rigid in their years.

What I'm seeing on this forum are people giving out bad advice and a waste of time because they are taking science as fact rather then seeing it evolve. It's too frustrating to me and I am not going to be sticking around.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I'm pretty sure your most recent thread got locked because it devolved from debating evidence and ideas into accusations of delusion, statements of being intellectually superior, and other such personal  attacks. The problem was in the form of inflammatory responses such as saying that Bored Chemist was "full of "beans"", "funny and deluded", that his "subjective opinion is not needed or welcome", calling yourself a "better scientist" than him and that "Einstein was an idiot".

Now you explained it like that, looking back, I was not very nice and apologise to Mr C,  I am getting insulted elsewhere and wrongly took it out on Mr C, my sincere apologies.
MR C does try to wind me up a bit though, I do not understand why he keeps replying nonsense to everything when I try to be strictly objective.
