I will put it into those terms, either we solve global warming and its 'geopolitics' peacefully, or we don't solve it at all. Because governments falling to repression will create violence, and that violence will spread. In a worst case you will end up with a caste system, and a 'thought police' repressing every thought that doesn't suit. On the other tentacle it doesn't change anything for you, unless you have changed, does it?

So, are we getting closer to the edge? Yep, but that's not what you need think about. You need to think about starvation, mass migrations and small arms wars. You need to ask yourself how the 'geopolitical map' will look in, let's say seven years. You need to ask yourself where your imported food will come from, and your toys of course, those you reward yourself with.

" “Approximately 45 countries are set to fail to achieve low levels of hunger by 2030,” he said. “Conflict, inequality, and the effects of climate change have all contributed to persistently high levels of hunger and food insecurity around the world.”

The report finds that the number of undernourished people across the globe is increasing. The rise has been biggest in countries in Africa that are south of the Sahara and affected by conflict and drought. "

And then there is water.

" Nowhere on Earth will be untouched, with the number of people facing water shortages set to leap from 3.6 billion today to 5 billion by 2050. At least 100 million people will be plunged into poverty in the next decade, and in the decades following that, rising sea levels will swamp coastal cities from Miami to Shanghai, wiping $1tn a year from the global economy. Agriculture will become increasingly difficult, with more people displaced as a result, searching for liveable conditions elsewhere. "

And then we have Europe.

" Five organisations representing more than 2,500 experts have written to Ursula von der Leyen, the incoming president of the European commission, and the European parliament, to demand major changes to the way the CAP operates.

Under current rules, farmers are rewarded for the land they farm, and can apply for supplementary subsidies based on implementing measures to protect the environment and preserve wildlife and flora. This system is regarded as an improvement on its predecessor, which encouraged over-supply in some areas by awarding production-based subsidies, leading to the infamous butter mountains and wine lakes of previous decades. However, the current CAP – which costs EU taxpayers €60bn a year – is “turning rural areas into green deserts of uninhabitable maximum-yield monocultures”, according to the European Ornithologists Union, the European Mammal Foundation, the Societas Europaea Herpetologica, the Societas Europaea Lepidopterologica and Butterfly Conservation Europe.

There is now an “unequivocal scientific consensus” that the plummeting numbers of European farmland birds, populations of which more than halved between 1980 and 2015, and a decline of more than three-quarters among insects in some areas, have happened because of intensified farming, the signatories wrote.

“The greening measures in the CAP are largely ineffective at retaining or restoring biodiversity and are too often poorly controlled,” they wrote. “The current agri-environmental schemes are both underfunded and insufficiently targeted to meet the scale of the damage to farmland biodiversity.”  Proposed changes that would place more emphasis on such measures are still inadequate, the experts found. Instead, they want to see fundamental reforms that support smaller farms that use sustainable methods and maintain high biodiversity. "

And mono farming of course.

Combine it with the type of response we see from Australia. Politicians that refuse to see.

It will polarize society into people that think we can 'geoengineer' it away and those that doesn't. Geoengineering is as I state something that can be done inside the game, it follows the rules more or less. A little like a Colosseum for those worried, but not prepared to question themselves and their core beliefs. And it won't force anyone to accept their own responsibility for it either.

to those people the effort will be what counts, and the cost of course. It won't work, but it will probably both sound good and look good in the news.

And then we have the geopolitics. Presuming geoengineering I also will presume that we continue to use fossils. We will present projects in where we promise to sequester the harmful parts out of our atmosphere and bury them back into the ground. That also fits the system we have because it's just business as usual. But as it won't work global warming will continue to accelerate.  And the geopolitics will reflect that. It will be a unsafe world.

That's the same mono farming that was thought to be the answer to starvation just some years ago.

And when it doesn't work out, small arms wars growing into major conflicts, 'geopolitics' will intervene. Protecting sources of energy f.ex, and distribution of needed things as electronic components, raw materials, food, whatever it is that we import and need. That won't be accepted and will lead to a even worse situation. I don't expect it to matter whether it is done by bribes or by force.

You will see it a lot clearer I think in seven years. I could have played safe and said 'a decennium' but the way it seems to accelerate I think seven years is enough for us to see in which direction it goes.

Don't know if you've thought of it, but considering the situation we find ourselves in those days a recession is actually a good thing. It mean less fossil fuel burned, less toys bought, less consumption. The bad thing about it is that it will come as a result of peoples insecurity, not by choice.

Climate science have always been defensive, that means that it isn't prepared to climb the barricades. James Hansen did, 'and look where it took him' :)

It's both a result of wanting to be sure, especially when the results becomes worrying, and adapting to the needs of those that are supposed to implement changes based on their recommendations. And a third part of it is due to those lying and distorting the findings naturally. So they are 'conservative'. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/scientists-have-been-underestimating-the-pace-of-climate-change/

Global warming is a true paradigm changer. Most of what you see called paradigms are to me just trends, easy to extrapolate into a future but global warming will be a lot more than a trend. Choosing the way above it will destroy civilization and our society's. And that won't come back.

Politicians are, as far as I've noticed so far, only paying lip service to the idea of a future. So if you want your voice to be heard then one voice one vote is a good idea, and short cutting the route from you to a implementation by using direct voting and the internet is another. Not everybody are as locked up to the game as them.

And of course it will wreck you wallets. But they are going to wrecked anyway, the difference being that with this option we will have a chance to put it to rights. The other option is one in where your kids won't have a future anymore.

another implementation that will help is a citizens pay instead of social services. That will cut a swath through our bureaucracies, generating a lot more personal freedom of choice. Combine that with schools open for every one, free of costs, and you will have a dynamical society able to change at a short notice. It will benefit the industries that will come, and it will benefit you.

It's education

Going around hating people that didn't do like you is just stupid. Accept that the majority of us will use those opportunities in a good way, and that society will become a better place by it.

And if you now happen to have your reading glasses on you should be able to notice that all of those suggestions are steps towards equality. You take the game to its limits and change it.

And yes, it's also a way to break down hierarchies whose major function seem to be implementing 'what's good for you', leading to abuse and mistreatment. I expect you to be able to choose by yourself.

Apropos education, or the lack of it https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/nov/26/california-gang-enhancements-laws-black-latinos

And what I mean by that is that the lack of education and understanding leading to such measures are appalling on both sides. The governments as well as the citizens.

And a tidbit about banks and Australia. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/nov/26/reserve-bank-may-create-money-to-boost-economy-when-rates-drop-to-025

All in the game.
