The alternative is to trust in some religious and financial righteousness with 'God' and the market always being on your side, small arm wars, geopolitics and patriotism. Egoism greed and hubris, ignorance and stupidity. Your own beliefs and ideals lifted up to some universal truth.  That is what has placed us where we are today. That is what made your schools. That is part of what created a game of inequality.

Your behavior, your ideals and beliefs, are not set in stone.

" "The strategy of huddling is a behaviour that has to be learned by the young penguin chicks early on in their lives.

"It is one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

"Despite their parents being extremely calm and organised while huddling, the young ones try to take shortcuts into the warm centre by crowd-surfing over their peers.

"Sooner or later, however, they will understand that everybody gets to be in the warm centre." "

If they can learn, so can you.

Let's add those two, about California.

And this behavior, under the current game, spells disaster, not only for USA, but for any country reliant on Microsoft products for their governing, or banks, or any other place. Sweden use their products in our government, and I'm sure there are a lot more countries doing the same. Even China itself uses it, no matter trade embargo's etc. You always have to look to the game and its so called 'real politik', and geopolitics. A game of distrust.

This might even become part of our future, considering the game. Not only China has stated that they might want to disconnect.

Well, China already is 'disconnected'.  https://www.zdnet.com/article/oracle-chinas-internet-is-designed-more-like-an-intranet/

a alternative might be asymmetric encryption. But that would make it harder to snoop at you, so it's not popular amongst your governments.

Damn, can't help thinking of those poor penguins, huddling, if they behaved the same way as we do? Wonder how that would look, and how many that would survive it.

ahh, you really thought it through, didn't you :)

We are funny.

In retrospective 2021

article from 2013   "  In November 2011, Desmond Ball, a professor in the Strategic and Defense Studies Centre at Australia’s National University argues that the Chinese offensive capabilities today are pretty limited and he has also declared that the internal security has a bunch of vulnerabilities.

Ball says that China’s cyber-warfare capabilities are “fairly rudimentary,” he sustained that Chinese cyber units don’t represent a serious menace due leak of sophistication of the attacks. The malware detected since 2011 revealed a low complexity and in many cases where intercepted before to cause damage. The professor sustained that the capabilities of Chinese cyber units cannot be sufficient to penetrate foreign networks. I mentioned these affirmations because it is representative of the perception of Chinese cyber menace just a couple of years ago, the recent events demonstrated that also in that period were ongoing cyber espionage operations based on complex malicious code that operated undetected for various years compromising computers and also entire networks also of government offices.

The suspect that behind the recent attacks there are state-sponsored hackers would be confirmed by a similar different digital fingerprint in the incursions, easily recognizable by analyzing the command and control servers and dissecting the malicious code used. "

Well. but not really. If it was that easy you wouldn't have the dark web, and counter espionage in it. And with modern botnets consisting of your smart devices it becomes more complicated. And bouncing it all over the world before you attack, with some of the servers unwilling to provide information after the fact.

It builds on distrust, all of it. The idea that no one can trust anyone.

Your infra structures all builds on trust. You expect them to work. Your banks, your water, your heat. Your government.

They are becoming easily disrupted, the more technology you add to them. We are funny, we play a game of disruption against each other, building on distrust, while we internally expect it to work, building on trust. So maybe you will find more disconnections in the future, ending in each man for himself.

and this my friend is what will take us out of our disasters. Feel assured.

So, what about emp attacks? And this connects to where the backbones of any and all national Intranets as well as Internets are, in China or for that sake USA.

" Missiles of China "   https://missilethreat.csis.org/country/china/

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesconca/2020/06/25/china-develops-first-strike-capability-with-electromagnetic-pulse/

don't blame it all on China though. The idea is not Chinese.

So how about back bones?    https://www.networkworld.com/article/3532318/what-is-the-internet-backbone-and-how-it-works.html

And then there is one thing more DNS servers. Domain name servers, the one that translates a IP number to a 'readable' address ,or a readable to a IP. They are layered too, and at root they're called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_name_server

syntax

EMP and targeting.

https://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2014/08/29/internet-may-taken

" Here’s the interesting part: there are "only" 13 servers that do this. Here’s the list of them. Effectively, if you take these servers down, the only way to “browse” the Internet will be with a physical piece of paper, a pen and a really good memory around numbers.

Here’s the other interesting part: take down these servers and IPv6 won’t work either. Phones, computers, businesses, everything will stop. The challenge with this is that these severs are replicated and backed-up and replicated hundreds of times over. Plus, with IPv6 - how these data centers receive and process multiple IP address is changing as well. Still, a “mission impossible” style attack where backups are killed, replication is stopped and only 13 servers remain could make a catastrophic outage possible. "

Quite difficult to defend yourself against I would guess, both in China as well as in USA, or any other country.

Another effect of ' strategic small nuclear devices' being applied at precise locations, alternatively a really big one.
Our new doctrine exported from USA.

We're definitely going to meet a nuclear war, in one disguise or another, as long as we build our relations on distrust and disruptions.

It may start with a EMP.  But it will escalate very fast from that.
