A new Forum for alternative remedies ?
«
on:

I'm just looking at the degree of interest that there seems to be in alternative and complementary therapies. It struck me that maybe we should set up an additional forum, like the medicine one, just devoted to complementary medicine. Or is it better to keep everything together ?

I think they are better kept together. Each has a range of benefit and when combined we can cover more turf quickly and easily.
What about a new sub-heading (Science, Medicine, Alternative Medicine/Therapies)?

Sorry I've realised that I wasn't being very clear was I - I meant a new forum sub-heading as you contend. It's fairly easy to do.
Any other takers ?

Although I'm not very good in this field but I could learn something from the new forum so count me in too.

I'd go for that too, however, I think inevitably we'll be combining both. I'm not sure how you ignore traditional medicine when you're discussing alternative, but at least we'd know that's the forum to look specifically for althernatives.

Dear All,
okay, here's what we propose.
We'll divide the top topic (currently General Science and Medicine) into 2 seperate identities; one called Science and One called Medicine. In the medicine one we'll have a 'traditional medicine forum' and an 'alternative medicine forum'. We can then further sub-divide the science one into various disciplines such as chemistry, technology, physics, biology etc. The aim is to make the material as easy to find and organise as possible. It also means people interested in one specific area can go directly to their area of interest without having to read through pages of titles from other disciplines.
It would be nice to have someone to moderate the new alternative medicine forum - Donnah are you interested ? The role would involve ensuring that the topics are appropriately titled and also within the correct forum in the first place.
Any feedback ?
We'll probably set this up in a week or so...

sounds interesting, the only problem being, you'll divide the traffic up and each forum will get very little traffic.

I read all that are "new" and would like the break down. Might I suggest you give Garry his own forum. This would allow me to bypass it altogether.
Thanks,

TNS, I like your idea. Three deep for groups and sub-groups keeps access quick, and dividing into disciplines makes it easier for those who are searching for specific info.
Moderate? Sure, though I'm a little surprised you asked considering I haven't done the calcium article yet. I'm gathering data for it (the calcium article) now, so if anyone comes across anything, please let me know.

The forums don't usually call for much action anyway, we're pretty well behaved, but congrats Donnah anyway.

Oops, I should have asked what time commitment is involved.
Thanks Quantum.

It's not too time consuming at all unless you get a bunch come on like we had over the weekend, then it takes a little while to delete the rubbish. We thought that as you show an interest in it, you'd be good for the job. Let us know.

Good to go. You can email me the details if you like. I'll start after I get back from Vegas (Aug 22).

Donnah has had some logging on problems for some reason. Hopefully we've rectified the fault and she'll be back with us asap !

Me too. Knew she was back from Vegas, but then she disappeared. Welcome back Donnah, even if you can't answer.
