Does better sex mean better offspring?

Does higher quality/more satisfying sex for both partners (or even just having a healthy sex drive) have any effect on the offspring?

I can't imagine why. I can't see how the level of fulfilment and quality of the intercourse, the love between the two have an effect on the distinction of the procreational act leading to an effect on the offspring..
In MY opinion, as long as the female does not indulge in activities that will affect the health of the foetus then the nature of the offspring is determined by the their own proclivities and predispositions and a healthy happy upbringing nine months after conception.

Q. Does better sex mean better offspring?
A. IMO Yes, if it keeps father around to provide for and protect his children and their mother.

Perhaps physical contact, kissing, and sex could all be signs of compatibility between individuals in a relationship which might extend further into the offspring.
I do agree with RD though, that sex may be part of long-term couples compatibility.

A calm mother, i.e. not stressed during pregnancy, is associated with a healthier mother and hence a healthier baby. If two parents have a good relationship, which is in and of itself usually associated with fulfilling sex, then they will have lower stress levels and hence healthier offspring, I'd argue.

So you're all mostly saying that good sex usually means good relationship, and good relationship means better parenting, and that means better offspring?
Okay :{o~
I was curious though, since we're naturally equipped with sexual pleasure to motivate us to procreate, is there any connection between the quality of a 'good session' and the quality of the partner's reproductive organs THAT particular session?
Is the male's sperm healthier or more lively? Are the female's parts going to take in the very best of the bunch, or just more at once?
Whether they were good, calm, loving parents or not--Would you have turned out slightly better developed when you were born if your parents were both
amazing
in bed? :{o~

Animals know nothing about sex, but everything about procreation.

An American politician got himself into all kinds of trouble recently trying to argue that women's bodies can control the outcomes of sexual encounters of certain types...

This is what I thought you meant Confused Hermit.....that it was purely if the sex session itself was mindblowingingly fantastic that this level of satisfaction would have a consequence on the ' quality' of the offspring rather than a "wham-bam-thank-you-mam" session. I still think (in my opinion) that it would not make any difference.

**** bizerl enters the minefield! ****
Would it make any difference to the sperm if the woman was aroused during conception? ie. does the womans natural lubrication have an impact on sperm? If a change in the chemical environment created a hostile environment for sperm, this would mean only the best would get through.
What about the effects of a female orgasm on how well the sperm is directed towards the egg?

As a firm believer in empirical study and with TNS funding I volunteer to endure a study case !

I love how many more responses I get when my science questions happen to be about sex. I applaud you for it! It's good to show interest in what we're naturally interested in :{D~
I'm very interested in bizerl and Edge03zn's thoughts on the subject. Those are all good points, and I really do wonder if they could lean my question's answer towards 'yes.'
