I'm just wondering, what part of body produces testosterone and progesterone?  testicle?  brain?  thyroid?

I believe T is manufactured in the testicles, no idea about P.
Testosteron in the adrenal and the testicles.
Progesterone in the adrenal cortex.

Thanks, Vandemolen!

I'm just wondering, does the pituatary gland or the pineal gland produce any chemical or hormone in our brain/body?  It would make sense to know because I think orgasm is somehow connected to the pituatary in our brain, which causes symptoms in our brain.

ty for your responses i am completely frustrated, and tired of doctors patronizing me and telling me my symptoms just don't make sense. i will read more on here and try to make sense of what i am dealing with, as it seems most people on here have to diagnose themselves with the help of an understanding physician.

opeth41, my conviction is that we can MAKE them understand. Be prepared with copies of some of the papers and wave them in front of the doctor and say, definitively, "SEE? [you idiot] [;D]".

However, you can do that within the realm of politeness.

I got steaming mad and that worked. Then I evolved into politeness. [:)]

Others here have done the same. Read on.

Apply firmness, conviction, and a willingness to move on.

YOU are smarter than THEM about this, already, opeth41! Keep that in mind. Don't be intimidated, cowed, humiliated. We've all been there, but it's time to turn the tables!

Keep this in mind: THEY ARE OUR [PAID] ASSISTANTS!! If they show that they are smarter about POIS, then they probably won't act like jerks.  [:)]

Please re-read the last paragraph of the Welcome Letter.

This doesn't answer the first part of your question, but I can relay some personal medical experience related to the pituitary gland.

Because of my sky-high prolactin count, my endocrinologist decided to conduct an MRI of my pituitary. Looking for tumors, apparently.

The pituitary MRI revealed very little (a "partially empty sella", which required no treatment).

This was an edited-addition to his 2nd Spoof. Keep in mind that Anthony The POIS Spoof Writer stumbled on our site while researching sexual dysfunction. I believe that he is sincere and competent:

"...a forum like the one for POIS should feel duty-bound to unify its members into one strong lobbying force," continued Ainasor. "Their members should be writing letters to every public and private sexual health researcher, relentlessly, until someone publicly decides to champion their cause."

With one of the doctors I went to, I kicked him squarely in the nuts, and once he caught his breath, I told him "Don't worry, it's all in your head!".... at least that's how it played out in my mind as I left his office.

It's tough. What seems to work best, is inform yourself as best you can, that's where this forum helps a lot, and then go to someone with perscription writing abilities and insist that they give you what you want. Whether they believe you or not. We often have to find one or two perscription writers and then means to really have them evaluated properly. Among us here, there are various who have good analysis abilities or doctors who have these abilities.

The most typical example is the one where an evaluation of hormone levels fails by a regular doctor just because all levels are in legal areas. They forget, or don't have the training, or don't want to risk going beyond that, in taking into consideration relative imbalances (even though all is withing range otherwise). You have to go loaded with arguements and twist their arms. They work for us.

It would be great to have a career where you don't have to do your work, but get paid anyways... SIGH.

This is it mate!

I think all of us have experienced this in some way shape or form, if living with this isn't difficult enough there are doctors out there in some on the highest positions of authority with this blatant disregard.

POIS is a massive health concern and does take a huge toll on things, improvisation of coping strategies whilst a cure or treatment should be in the best intrests of any health provider.

I too have been infuriated when told "it's all in your head" to the point where I've just walked out of appointments, it was phasic and I've grown out of doing this, but like in life all things are a learning curve, it's very demeaning when blood tests come back as normal yet it doesn't serve any justice. Other than endocrinology all levels of healthcare professionals have treated me poorly, it's just been a case of we've done the relevent tests and assessment's and nothing shows up as abnormal, therefore the problem is in your head.

I think we should combine our efforts to come up with how to address POIS and it's symptoms to healthcare professionals, with a carefully scrutinised and rehearshed argument it might work in to eliminate being treated as hypocondria, of course a discussion needs to take place as without appropriately conveying everything that you experience POIS symptoms would fall into lots of other different areas of medicine.

Thanks for the reply, any luck?
I had an UTI 2 months ago. I then had an antibiotics. A week later I had complaints and the replacer of my urologist gave me antibiotics. Later I heard that the urine was clean. Since then I drink cranberry juice and a tablet. The time is too short to say if it had effect. Time will tell.

With regards to this, I’m also combating UTI’s. I’ve come to the conclusion by elimination for me it’s excessive Candida that’s causing the abnormal amount of UTI’s I’ve been getting over the past few years. My GP’s solution to combat this so far has only been limited to the use of Trimethoprim and I don’t really want to consistently use it as it’s not a long term solution and I assume over use is going to kill off good bacteria also.

I’m looking to starve the Candida and eventually, hopefully reduce it to an insignificant amount, my current lifestyle probably causes an excessive inhabitance and possibly an overgrowth, causing my UTI problems.

Changes will include a consistent manageable change in diet, reduction of high carbohydrates and lowering sugar rich and processed foods, depending on the treatment I’ll be getting due to my low testosterone condition, I’m putting my faith in getting some sort of treatment to either get my normal by exogenous or even better, if the doctor finds an underlying cause seek to get that fixed so my test levels fall into the normal range, this in turn will hopefully bring some vigor back into my life allowing me get back into weight training and other sports.
I’ll keep a diary of things, hopefully I can report back with something positive in a few months :)

I retract my "cure"!

The forced sleep makes me too spacey the following day(s). So it's not worth it, because it disrupts the established sleep/awake pattern.

I'll just stick to my great improvement with testosterone treatment therapy and stimulants. I'm greedy (reasonable, I think, after 30+ years of this torture POIS, but I'll just have to be patient, like the rest of you, till we find a solid treatment method).

My prolactin was sky-high, 1000% higher than norm. Pituitary brain scan revealed nothing, so I did my own research with endo's blessing. Simply reading wikipedia, it pointed to Rx drugs as the usual suspect, naming Reglan, which I was on for a decade. So I got off it and my prolactin went from 90 to 9 (normal)!

Thanks for asking.

limejuice - when you use noriethisterone how many orgasm do you have after one dose of noriethisterone.   I am asking because, I tried levonorgestrel and i didnt feel any usual first pois symptoms after one orgasm, i figured a second one wont hurt, so i tried 30 mins later and that orgasm just tore me apart and it seems the symptoms were worse especially the flu like symptoms, i was hot all day.
I remeber you saying the first time you tried it not using enough noriethisterone you felt wierd, so i was thinking may be the second orgasm was just to much for one dose of levorngestrel.
I will try it again but this time around with just one orgasm.

For candida a Medical doctor not alternative doctor prescribe candex + grape fruit seed extract to me. candex is suppose to break down the cell walls of candida without affecting other organisms in your stomach and creating dye off symptoms.
I was prescribed candex because i was trying to use ldn  and candida affects the power of ldn.

I said to the replacer of my urologist: maybe it's yeast in the prostate. But he said that in the urine there was nothing too see.

What about sports? Do you guys exercise a lot? I was really active: at least 3 times a week since I was a kid. But a few years ago I stopped because of work. Sports increases testosterone.

For now I want to sport again. But after an O I can't sport for four days. Its hard. And not excersise means that you feel bad. No endorfin.

I saw that others tried already a lot of things. Maybe it's an idea to print the list what all you guys have tried and go to the vitamin store. Maybe I can find a pill that you didn't tried yet. Maybe that will be the 100 % cure. :)
