Why/How Do People Lose Their Creativity ?
« on: 14/04/2017 15:47:50 »
Dear Science peeps of Extraordinary Academic Savvy & Know-how Adeptness !!

As a sheepy I am of course at the height of my creativity genius. In fact, its safe to say I've always been at my peak !! and always will be. Modesty being my most inspiring trait.

Here, look at what I just created :

Up For Sale At Bonhmas next Wednesday est: £20 million. Which is nice !

Unlike myself, creativity in certain fields of artistic areas seems to spike and then is never reached again, one-hit wonders, and musical artists that seem to hit their peak with their first few choons, sequels to films that never seem to match the original, writers get 'writers block' and seem to lose their creative bent.

Why Do People Get Writers Block  ? Why do people lose their ability to be creative ? What is the mechanism for a loss of imagination ?

Whajafink ?

Ewe see, I dont know !...if ewe answer then I will know and we will both know, and knowing is good , not knowing is not good !

Hugs & Shmishes

mwah mwah mwah !!

Sheepy

Love the picture; you have clearly not peaked yet...

I think there are a range of aspects to this. Part of "success" is timing, and sometimes people who have been working a certain way on a certain product for a long time find their "moment" when what is in demand or en vogue suddenly coincides with the thing they do and the way they do it. So they enjoy a moment in the spotlight until society loses interest again and tastes change.

There is also an element of people being successful and "creative" because they stand out from the crowd and set a new agenda. Then the World catches up and everyone imitates, diluting the originality of the originator and also making everyone sick and tired of that particular approach / genre.

Then there is the thing we all hate to acknowledge - that we have a lot more energy, we're a lot less biased and brainwashed and a lot less visible and open to critique when we're younger, so we tend to be willing to take more risks and do things in a more unorthodox way; in some cases this leads to breakthroughs in new directions. Once we get brainwashed by the orthodox approach and get well known then it's much harder not to go with the flow.

Well, I have to agree with our esteemed underdressed host, that it is mostly a random chance your thought will be a success, and that will change the planet in some small way.

I however, very much doubt that the sheepie has downloaded that termite mound, such a common sight in Africa. Even elephants are not going to make a poop pile that big, though they will fill a few barrows a day with it. That mound is entirely made from termite poo though, and such a big edifice comes from the back end of some small social insects is quite amazing though.

A good example of how creativity is being trashed by technology. ;)

I see myself as a science artist. I am well educated in science and can use science like a medium to create science art. Art reflects contemporary reality and can also anticipate future reality. The artist can also take liberties with reality, through impressionist and abstract art.

We have two centers of consciousness. One center in called the inner self, which is based on our DNA and has a connection to instinct. This is the center of the unconscious mind. The other center is the ego, which is the center of the conscious mind. Most people are aware of the ego, while the creative person has more conscious awareness of the inner self. Creativity stems from an interaction between the inner self and the ego, with the ego often setting up a potential between the two, to get the creative process in motion. The suffering of the artist is the induced tension that leads to the artistic solution.

The inner self usually reaches the ego, through intermediary firmware, which Jung called the archetypes of the collective unconscious. There are many layers of firmware, with different types of art coming from different layers of the firmware. Art like dance and sports come from the instinctive firmware, where the spontaneity and coordination of our inner animal helps to mold the art of the movement. Firmware of relationship help to define the artist define human and object relationships. This type of art is the basis for fiction, painting and sculpture. The firmware of meaning, which is often used by logic and inference, helps generate my science art.

The ego is a product of culture in terms of education, social expectations and social needs. The inner self is a product of nature and evolution and often has different needs than culture. When confronted with problems both can seek optimization in their own ways. If these don't overlap, a potential is created; writers block. If one is conscious of the unconscious; intuitive hunch, and one allows their imagination to flow, via the inner self through firmware, this can help show the ego ways, to lower the potential; creative expression.

Art can move people because of the inner self connection. The inner self and its firmware define human nature which is common to all humans. Art by being a product of the inner self, provides a way to center humans with their own inner self, even if normally unconscious. The emotional affect coming from art, reflects the induced inner self center setting a potential with the ego; creative interpretation. One becomes creative, also.
