Life is what you make it. Some people like asking questions, some like answering them, and some just like to chat about scientific matters.

Where have we come from?
Where are we going?
What are we doing now?

Aren't these the fundamental questions about the meaning of life, the universe and everything?

That is what many people here are discussing....
- But if you focus totally on some of these questions, and ignore others, you could get a rather skewed view of life....

(If this doesn't sound familiar, read Douglas Adams: "Hitch-hikers Guide to the Universe"!)

Where have we come from?Where are we going? What are we doing now?

Out of the unknown we come
Into the unknown we go
And we're here because we're bloody here.

My Dad recalled a relevant military moment. Troops standing to attention for about ten minutes whilst the Powers that Be decide what stupidity to do next.
Voice from the ranks "They also serve who only stand and wait"
Sergeant Major "Who said that?"
Voice "Kipling"
SM "Kipling, one pace forward. You're on a charge."

And whilst in the mood for military reminscence, here's one of mine. Home Office Civil Defence course. Nice paramedic from the Army Medical Corps describes the distribution of injuries over the human body from car bombs, with an explanatory powerpoint slide.
Smartass in the audience (there's always one) says "Why don't they add up to 100%?"
Soldier snaps to attention and shouts "Sir! Because there's a bit missing, Sir!"
Now that's what I call good training.

I come here to see if I can get a better understanding of what mass or matter is, and what the cause of gravity is.

I think I have a realistic model of matter, but only have a path to follow for gravity.

And that path is called a worldline. We all got here following our own unique worldlines.

Gravity is nature's attempt to equalize the forces of action and reaction in a grand universe that cannot be equalized.

"And that path is called a worldline. We all got here following our own unique worldlines."

So if we are following, does that mean that I had to come here?

"Gravity is nature's attempt to equalize the forces of action and reaction in a grand universe that cannot be equalized."

I was taught that action and re-action are already equal.

On a grand scale, I agree, but my speculation is that the universe is infinite, and on a grand scale features Big Bangs here and there on a continual basis. That would make equalization a grand perpetual process, but locally we would observe it playing out during a phase of the equalization process where conditions are mild enough to accommodate life.

However, grand equalization spells our eventual doom locally, IMHO.

In the mean time, before this hospitable Earthly environment meets it eventual cosmic doom, we live out our lives.

Generally we seek happiness and meaning in life, and do what we can to clean up the eyesores. Agreed, we sure do make a lot of mistakes as we go. Hopefully they are pretty inconsequential mistakes.

I know not Whither, willy-nilly blowing.

Out of the unknown realm we come, with awe;
To marvel at the enigmatic scenes we stand before.
As into paths unknown we wander far;
We know we're here because we bloody are.

Best question I've seen here. It is the question I must answer or I got nuthin. Once upon a time, in my prime, life couldn't have been better, "threw the bums a dime".
Everything dissolved quickly though and I had to find the answer to that very question.
I found it in the One Who came and died a criminal's death.
