Locally defined, if you accept that time dilation's and LorentzFitzGerald contractions exist in relative motions as well as in accelerated, relative motion matters. Even though it doesn't exist locally measured.

Motion becomes something illdefined when looked through the eyes of relativity. It doesn't fit the way we think about it normally.

You can also look at it this way. As defined through the muon 'paradox' a contraction is a complementary effect to what you define as a time dilation. You say the muons clock has 'slowed down'. The muons says that distances has shrunk.

So anything that can contract something must involve a time dilation.

It comes from the same fact. Your local clock is the perfect device for measuring your life span. It never lies to you, and it ticks at a same pace no matter your speed, accelerations, or mass. There exist no experiments contradicting this as far as I know.

Doesn't matter if you're 'accelerating', hovering above a event horizon, watching the universe outside evolve at 'warp speeds'. you will still have the same 'life span' as defined by your perfect local clock.

So what about it?

Are they complementary, those two effects?
Do your local clock ever change its pace?

Kind of funny.  " But although the Indian Ocean is bordered by Africa, Asia and Australia, the single biggest harvester of yellowfin in the area is the European Union. EU nations – principally Spain and France – operate a “distant water fleet” of 43 vessels that fish the seas thousands of miles from home. In 2019 they caught 70,000 tonnes of yellowfin, more than Indian Ocean coastal states such as Iran (58,000 tonnes), Sri Lanka and the Maldives (44,000 tonnes each). "

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/mar/05/eu-accused-of-neocolonial-plundering-of-tuna-in-indian-ocean

It's difficult becoming too self righteous about China and its industrial overfishing as long as the EU does the same. And I guess the examples of the same behavior will grow as time goes on, and competition gets worse. China is still. without competition. the worst one though. Then again, all over fishing leads to the same. And this is funny too, fish is so associated to a healthy life, and a moral dedication to the environment, isn't it? But the effect is the opposite.

And this.  https://www.theguardian.com/film/2021/mar/05/the-dissident-review-jamal-khashoggi-saudi-author-murder-documentary

Both USA and the UK still involved with this Country, under this 'leadership'. It's the old testaments teachings, isn't it? An eye for an eye. Geopolitics and Real Politik in a smelly combination.

The last hundred years, that's what I think it is about. Maybe one hundred and fifty. Connected to industrial farming & fishing, artificial fertilizers and pesticides, mono plantations and loss of seeds, eco and biodiversity in a free fall, modern 'science' and medicine. And due to it a constantly rising over population. Grasshopper swarms have nothing to teach us.

This is so funny " At issue in particular was the administration’s 60-day pause on new federal oil and gas leases, which several senators mischaracterized as a “ban”. "

Well, I guess it's the definition you too use, right?
A 'ban'

A death of a thousand cuts.

Pollinators.

" Uncertainty remains regarding the role of anthropogenic climate change in declining insect populations, partly because our understanding of biotic response to climate is often complicated by habitat loss and degradation among other compounding stressors. We addressed this challenge by integrating expert and community scientist datasets that include decades of monitoring across more than 70 locations spanning the western United States. We found a 1.6% annual reduction in the number of individual butterflies observed over the past four decades, associated in particular with warming during fall months. "   https://science.sciencemag.org/content/371/6533/1042

" The declines are winnowing away much-loved species such as the monarch butterfly, which is known for is spectacular mass migrations to California each year but has lost 99% of its population compared with 40 years ago. “With the monarch it seems we are on the verge of losing the migration, if not the species itself,” Forister said."
