Students are given problems that they have to solve within one week. The solutions of the problems are presented by the students in the following exercise unit, for which points are awarded. If no student has found a solution, the correct solution is explained by the trainer. All solutions are made available to the students as a reference after the exercise unit.

In addition, there is the possibility to work in groups of 3 people each on an essay on a topic of your choice from the extended subject area of the lecture.

**Special features:** By positive completion of this exercise one receives additionally 10 bonus points for the examination for LVA 138.042 VO Physics II for TCH.

Points collected through blackboard messages during the exercises (between 2 and 15 points per problem). In addition to three tests, each is worth 30 points.

An essay can be written voluntrary in a group of 3 students on a topic chosen by the group. This essay will be evaluated with a maximum of 15 points, which will be credited to all authors of the essay and which will count towards the lecture examination of the LVA 138.042 VO Physik II, but only if the student is positive in the exercise evaluation.

The exercise tests cover the current lecture contents, last 30 minutes each and consist of 3 short tasks. These tasks are randomly selected from the current topic area and consist of calculation examples (problems given in words) that test logic, comprehension and mathematical skills.

A maximum of 100 points is given for the exercise; 88-100 points correspond to "Sehr Gut", 75-87 points to "Gut", 62-74 points to "Befriedigend", 50-61 points to "Genügend" and less than 50 points to "Nicht Genügend".

Allowed aids in the examination are: self-written formulary and help sheets (2 A4 sheets of paper written on both sides) and a non-programmable calculator.

We assume that all students have practical and theoretical knowledge of the conservation of energy, balance of forces, basics of mechanics, and mathematical skills in integration, differentiation, simple statistics, transforming and solving of algebraic and differential equations. We strongly advise to learn the material discussed in the preceeding lecture Physics for technical Chemistry I.
