An autopsy specimen from a prodigy violinist admitted to a mental institution in 1943 when twenty years old with severe dementia praecox (schizophrenia). E.C.T. and insulin shock therapy produced no improvement. On 20.10.50 a bilateral leucotomy was performed. A few days later meningitis became apparent with 50mls of purulent fluid aspirated from the ventricles. Bacteriological examination revealed Pseudomonas. Death occurred on 7.11.50.
