Surgical resection specimen from a 19 year old man with tuberculosis of the right upper lobe and left lower lobes. The patient was treated with chemotherapy with resulting sputum"conversion" and resection of the caseous anterior segment of the right upper lobe, followed two months later by a left lower lobectomy. Microscopy showed multiple foci of tuberculouscaseation some lined by active tuberculous granulation tissue and others showing evidence of reparative fibrosisand calcification.
