An 1899 autopsy specimen from an 8 month old child admitted on July 20th for convulsions, which had commenced five days previously. On July 21st twitching of the left arm and left side of the face occurred. The following day the patient had a convulsive seizure affecting the right side of the body. Death took place five days after admission. At autopsy a diffuse meningitis was found.
