Congenital pulmonary stenosis with straddling embolus

A 1957 autopsy specimen from a 59 year old woman who was known to have been a blue baby, but survived without operation, married and had one child. She ultimately died of a succession of strokes between the age of 58 and 59 and finally collapsed and died of this embolism. An embolus arising from thrombus within the right atrial appendage is impacted in the orifice of the valve.
