A 1930 autopsy specimen from the newly born first child of a woman aged 34 years, delivered by forceps for delay in the second stage. No evidence of birth trauma. The child did not pass meconium. From birth the baby started to vomit, at first only slight in amount, but profusely after 24 hours, becoming very dehydrated and died 58 hours after delivery.
