Professor Cross is a graduate of Guy's Hospital, London. He trained in diagnostic histopathology at Nottingham, Cardiff and Sheffield hospitals before undertaking an MD on fractal geometry and non-linear dynamical systems in pathology as an MRC Training Fellow at the University of Sheffield.
His main research interest is the genetic factors in the pathogenesis of breast cancer and the links between genetic change and cancer morphology and behaviour. He is a member of the Breast Cancer Association Consortium which pools large numbers of cases to provide statistically powerful analyses of genetic linkage with breast cancer, recent publications are listed below. His other main area of research interest is the diagnosis of coeliac tissue.
