Gastrointestinal pathology: Small intestine: Endocrine cell tumour (carcinoid)

An operative resection specimen from a 43 year old woman with von Recklinghausen's Disease (neurofibromatosis) who presented with upper abdominal discomfort and weight loss. Endoscopy showed an ulcerating lesion at the ampulla and a Whipple's pancreatico-duodenectomy was carried out.
