A 1998 autopsy specimen from a 35 year old Ugandan female, who presented at the late stage of Aids with a CD4 count of 20 per microlitre of blood, and a viral load of 74,500 per ml of blood. A year later she presented with haemoptysis and an abnormal chest x-ray. Despite multiple samples and biopsies, no positive cause was identified in life. She died following an abrupt haemoptysis.
