It’s all about returning to the Moon and protecting the Earth this time with Space Boffins Sue Nelson and Richard Hollingham. Sue goes to Thales Alenia Space in Turin, Italy, to see HALO (Habitation and Logistics Outpost) - the first completed module for NASA’s orbiting lunar space station, Gateway. She also views a full mock up of Europe’s planned lunar IHAB module and wonders if anyone else could sleep inside a cylindrical room not much larger than a campervan. While there, she interviews ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer, NASA’s Sean Fuller and Jon Olansen, Ryan Tintner from Northrup Grumman, ESA’s Sara Pastor and Roberto Angelini from Thales Alenia Space. We also hear about the planned UK-led ESA mission Vigil and how it will improve space weather forecasts from the UK Space Agency’s head of space weather, Mike Willis, and Mark Gibbs at the UK’s space weather forecasting centre inside the Met Office in Exeter...
