Radiation stricture

Share

A 1967 operative resection specimen from a 58 year old woman who had previously undergone caesium treatment and an extended hysterectomy for carcinoma of the uterus. Since operation she had complained of diarrhoea and passing blood and mucus p.r. A barium enema demonstrated an obstructive lesion in the sigmoid colon. At operation sigmoid colectomy was performed. Histology was benign.
