Gastrointestinal Pathology: Ileum and Caecum: Crohn's Disease

An autopsy specimen from a 20 year old man, who presented to his G.P. with crampy, abdominal pain and episodic diarrhoea. On admission radiography showed narrowing of the terminal ileum. Biopsy showed several epithelioid granulomas in the sub-mucosa. A diagnosis of Crohn's disease was made and a right hemicolectomy performed.
